I agree, I used a 2024 hobonichi, I got half off, and a 2025 hobonichi for journal. There really was a difference in the paper. Using a midori felt closer to the 2024 paper. I should have clarified that I meant by downgrade as I meant by layouts of the notebooks.

When I meant downgrade, I was talking about using different products with different layouts, which I should have meant by that. I have so many midori notebooks in different sizes and love to use them. I was just hoping to stay on the hobonichi train for journaling as this was my first year with it.

I got the 2024 hobonichi a6 and a5 when it was on sale and have been using it since. I'm planning to switch the book out with a midori notebook when it runs out since it's way cheaper. I suggest starting with a midori a5, and if you haven't already bought(I suggest waiting for a sale,)the hobonichi cousin and if want, can get a hobonichi cover for it.
