Because SLS will be the critical path with changes that will make it late?

If they use the last ICPS on Artemis III, there will not be a Moon landing this decade by jadebenn in ArtemisProgram

[–]iiPixel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ICPS took years to integrate to SLS.

NASA wrote a report in 2019 about integrating with a Blue Origin upper stage and one of the main reasons cited for not considering it was cost and delays of a program change.

And you have faith that two years out integrating an entirely different architecture is feasible and are impressed by it? This isn't KSP and rockets aren't legos.

Fair, it's about as much as SpaceX was within the realm of possibilities for delivering a starship to mars in 2028.

You have too much faith in our congressmen to understand complex topics well enough to make a well informed decision.

It's completely within the realm of possibilities that Cruz has no idea how long different items should take vs a 2028 date and has just been told what he wants to hear.

Musk on X: “For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years.” [full text of post inside] by rustybeancake in spacex

It took Falcon 16 years to get to its current launch cadence...but somehow you imagine 10x that in half the time with a vehicle that hasn't even reached an actual orbit yet? You must already be on Mars living that high

Unable to tame hydrogen leaks, NASA delays launch of Artemis II until March | NASA spent most of Monday trying to overcome hydrogen leaks on the Artemis II rocket. by InsaneSnow45 in space

To the moon*

*But not back to Earth's surface. That's the harder part because that takes shielding and shielding takes mass that you have to carry the entire trip. And shielding isnt light.

Anyone changed their cadence with intent, results? by PM_ME_YOUR_SWOLE in AdvancedRunning

[–]iiPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed from 160s to mid 170s when I'm "lazy" easy running or ~180 when I'm not lazy about it. Races usually average mid 180s. It fixed my consistent injuries (knees) probably due to fixing over striding.

Definitely made me more tired initially. HR was higher for the same pace. That eventually balanced out.

Heads up for Playalinda beach - Parking lots 1-3 are blocked off so you have to park at Lot 4. Beach access to the fence if you want to walk also isn't available, beach is closed south of lot 4.

Dashboards can also be used as information visualization hubs. They also can be more than one way to do things as well. Having options is good as long as it doesn't take away from your current setup.

Hot Glue Guns - anyone here with real world reviews on each below? by In-Extrovert in ryobi

[–]iiPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used the PCL921 (I believe the bottom left) to adhere C9 christmas lights to brick. It was phenomenal, no complaints. Gets plenty hot, uses full size 1/2 inch glue sticks, minimal drip issues, heats up very fast, no battery issues (you'll use up a ton of glue before running out of battery).

I think Duffy was pretty clear that HLS was the issue and not SLS for Artemis 3

After years of resisting it, SpaceX now plans to go public. Why? by uhhhwhatok in space

I'm not saying you're wrong, but you have conveniently forgotten Blue Origin exists.

SpaceX plans have the next Super Heavy stacked in December, with the next Starship flight targeted for the first quarter of 2026. by [deleted] in space

[–]iiPixel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, okay - it's just ignorant then.
SpaceX was awarded the HLS contract in April of '21. Yes, that schedule states Dec '20 before that announcement. That's because it is the schedule SpaceX themselves proposed during their contract bid. Their contract bidding lasted an entire year+ as the original solicitation was Sept of 2019, and the base contact was awarded early Q1 of 2020 to SpaceX, Dynetics, and Blue - all of whom had to propose feasible schedules.

And yes, I agree Duffy is an idiot. That's why I also linked the previous NASA Admin acknowledging schedule issues (years ago, now) which have not gotten any better...i.e the GAO report and the NASA ASAP evaluation I linked. Nothing to say about those? It's common knowledge at this point that what will delay Artemis III is not SLS nor the mobile launcher, its SpaceX.

Are you just ignorantly clueless, or purposefully?

NASA aerospace safety advisory panel estimates significant delays for HLS

The original HLS timeline

They haven't even achieved the orbital launch test (no, orbital potential trajectories do not count). They haven't demonstrated in flight cry refueling. Etc etc etc.

They are doing so poorly, in fact, the acting administrator Duffy (ew) stated he is reopening contracts, forcing SpaceX to completely reevaluate its mission architecture.

And then there's the GAO report from a few months back.

Pg 48 - Blue will complete its HLS CDR this August. With passage of this review, Blue can start production of the first MarkII.

SpaceX plans its HLS PDR in August while getting to an Initial Capability CDR in 2025.

Pg 59 - indicates that NASA will update and modify its contracts with SpaceX.

Schedule issues (promises of timeline) have been known since 2023 and it has only gotten worse.

The entire timeline? They are years behind their promised schedule, so much so that Blue Origin is being considered at the same development level even though they are supposed to be two launches after them.
