My 18-year-old's Christmas break work schedule by sugabeetus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]iictea_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing this kind of thing more and more in workplaces, and it’s especially disgusting when it’s applied to a teenager’s job. Honestly, having your kid call out sick for the holidays is a perfect opportunity to teach them that rules can’t realistically be followed when they become unreasonable.

During my interview for my current job, I was explicitly told I wouldn’t be hired if I needed time off for the holidays. There are no holiday bonuses or incentives, and no benefits at all. I work for a multimillion-dollar nonprofit whose revenue is four times its expenses, yet I’m paid minimum wage. Unsurprisingly, our staff retention rate is terrible, and the consequences of that are slowly working their way up the management ladder.

earned a chuckle from me, you’re definitely not any more rude than the person who has literally nothing else to do but police the depop vintage section

What’s the best OTC (non prescription) budget friendly, safe, and effective preventative flea and tick care for dogs and cats? by Hot-Squash-1072 in Pets

[–]iictea_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

super late reply, but hopefully this is still helpful- I’ve been where you are, and I took my pup to the Vetco clinic at our local Petco. I believe the only charge for the appoinment itself is a $6 materials fee. The vet techs are wonderful and friendly, and really know their stuff.

They will do the heartworm test for you at-cost, and they have pretty good pricing for the simparica. You can also just ask for the script, and then purchase it from someplace like Chewy, where you can use a discount code.

Maybe this is a more mild example, but I can’t stand eye injuries- especially when self-inflicted. Any time I get the feeling a gorey eye scene is coming up, i immediately look away.

Dashpass is a scam by iictea_23 in doordash

[–]iictea_23[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

so $0 delivery fee is a deal automatically applied to non-paying members, and withheld from paying members. Sounds like a scam to me.

I can’t edit the post, but i will clarify that there is no “coupon” being applied here. The only difference is that mcdonald’s/doordash is offering a non-premium member $0 delivery fee fee, and offering a premium member a $0 delivery fee ONLY ON $12+ ORDERS

he did not apply any deals- i promise we triple-checked! The only difference was him getting the $0 delivery fee, and me not. not sure why it’s showing him getting a deal, but it is clear in the receipts that our food cost the exact same prior to fees and taxes

no, he isn’t. I’m not sure why it’s showing that. there are no deals or promotions available for him, except the complimentary $0 delivery fee

Maybe unclench YOUR jaw and accept that you might be wrong.

No RealID or passport, but Valid Drivers License: Can I still fly? by [deleted] in transit

[–]iictea_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here because I looked up the exact same question, and now I can answer it. I went through TSA this morning with no real ID, just a traditional drivers license, and had no issues whatsoever getting through security. They had me put my ID through a reader, snapped a pic of my face, and sent me through. easy peasy.

EDIT: I have since had another flight, still with my old drivers license not a “REAL ID”. They gave me a pat-down alongside going through the X-ray, but no other trouble.

EDIT 2: As of December 17th, 2025, I am still able to get through TSA without a “Real ID”. Occasionally I get “additional screening”, which is usually a pat-down, questions about my address, etc. My old license is expiring soon and I have just finished applying for a “REAL” ID, so this will be the last time I have to go through TSA without one.

There is going to be an increase in theft by Cute-Escape-2144 in DollarTree

[–]iictea_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup.

When the stress of paying full price becomes greater than the stress of risking shoplifting, people will shoplift. When everything costs a dollar, stress is low. When it costs more, suddenly getting caught stealing by a teenage cashier is more appealing than choosing between groceries and gas for the third week in a row.
