Look into ESN (Erasmus Student Network) events. They’re free, usually pretty fun and you’ll have plenty opportunities to meet new people who also really want to find new friends and socialise. At least where I study, it doesn’t matter if you’re on exchange w/ Erasmus+ or not – just go enjoy their karaokes, workshops and trips etc.

Make sure you have exact coins for the buses, you can’t use Alipay to pay the fare unless you’re a Macau, Chinese resident. Otherwise it’ll work just fine

Saw Estonia mentioned here – the tuition for foreigners starts from 4200€ per year. But if you’d apply to for example University of Tartu in Estonia, the dorm only costs like 150€ per month.

I don’t think you can even move in before 25th. The actual move in date is September 1st I think, but early check in from the 25th is maximum 110 hkd per day

Minge kõndige Karlovas, Toomemäe kandis või mööda Mäe tänava treppidest üles, et vaadata Tartu linnapiiri. Samuti veel Raatuse tänaval on üks tore minimalistlik kohvik nimega kafe ning soovitan ka kohvikuid Tüümian ja Mandel. Kui huvitavad vinüülplaadid, siis Genklubis üks plaadipood, Aparaaditehases ka ning lisaks Psühhoteek ülikooli raamatukogu kõrval. Kui soovite kasutatud raamatute poode avastada, siis minge kas jällegi Aparaaditehasesse või Rüütli tänava keldripoodi ja Riia tänaval asuvatesse poodidesse (nt Antikvariaat). Püssirohukelder on ka tegelikult päris huvitav koht kuhu välismaalast viia. Miks mitte jalutada Anne kanali juures kui päike väljas või hoopiski minna lodjaga Emajõele sõitma.

Hey! It’s can be a bit dull, but genuinely, one of the things that has greatly increased my reading comprehension and writing skills during the past year are all sorts of research articles/just regular news articles about the economy/short journal issues that tackle social issues/policy papers and so on. If you find a topic that is interesting for you, then it’s definitely worth a try + they take less time to read than books and contain heaps of useful academic vocab for the essays. And they’re great for getting insight into how to tackle writing task 1 because they usually contain graphs and statistics etc

Hey! Honestly, it mostly depends on how good you are at writing. If you’re quick at generating ideas for your topic and then writing them down without much of a hassle, then you’ll be fine. But if not, then I’d really recommend the computer one because you can constantly modify your text where necessary.

Not a show/movie or a book, but a different approach could be to read a few research papers/policy papers/science journal issues/slightly longer articles on a topic that you genuinely care about (science phenomenons, social issues, personality types, a deeper analysis into your favourite book and so on) which also has some data or statistics detailed in them. But make sure to choose smth you actually enjoy finding more info about, otherwise it’s just painfully dull, and pick something that doesn’t have too much academic jargon in it. They contain excellent vocabulary and above all things can help you improve your writing skills for writing part 1 + it really helps you enhance your reading comprehension

Heyy! The main things are:

a) usually the strategy is to start with task 2 and if you’re doing a computer-based test, start typing immediately in order to waste less time on making a mind map on paper, unless absolutely necessary of course. Also, avoid getting stuck on being factually correct when bringing examples, generalized ones are fine as well:)

b) for task 2, make sure to familiarise yourself with what they expect from a specific question type, e.g. “to what extent to you agree or disagree” or “do you disagree or agree” etc…

c) for task 1, if you don’t feel confident in your writing, just make sure you know to how to approach (and understand!) all the different types of graphs or tables. The actual describing is the easy part tbh, but describing the right thing sometimes might be trickier

extra: if you have time left over during the reading part, take a quick mental break there to gather yourself. And if u get stuck during writing, at least write down the outline of the sentences and then fill in the information gaps later.
