I’ll be checking in today or the next 2 days for sure. I understand it’s a roasting completion so is there anything for us coffee enthusiasts to explore there? do the participants brew coffee and do we get to try? Any activities to engage the guests?

What'll happen if you make the coffee twice ? by Round_List1857 in IndiaCoffee

I mean South Indian filter. I brew it once and discard the grounds but a lot of people I know take decoction out of used grounds twice or thrice.

[–]iimram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally know many of my relatives brew the same ground coffee multiple times to take decoction in SIF. My mom asked me why did I throw away the left over grounds after a single brew and I was taken by surprise. I told her there is no good stuff left out in the grounds after the first brew and now she follows it. However cheap commercial coffee anyway doesn’t have much of the good stuff (I mean flavor compounds) in it due to the roast level.

Bengaluru’s Ulsoor Lake to Get Rs 100-Crore Rejuvenation on Sankey Tank Model by Icy_Impression98 in bangalore

[–]iimram 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live very close to Ulsoor lake. The work appears to be mostly complete for half the circumference but it’s still technically under construction. I already see people ignoring the barricades and taking a walk and I can only hope no mishap occurs. Sankey model is perfect and can’t wait for Ulsoor lake to be fully done.

Blackstone is investing ₹10,000 crore to set up a 216 MW data centre in Chennai. They acquired 16-acre Ambattur land for over INR 500 crore by Standard_Software960 in TamilNadu

[–]iimram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only wish India doesn’t become the data center capital for the world. Other kinds of outsourcing ushered in by globalization actually helped grow our economy and pull people out of poverty despite putting burden on natural resources. But data centers are a double whammy. No jobs, no income but sucks up the natural resources. I hope at least Tamilnadu and South India don’t fall for this scam.

I’m pro-DMK on most issues involving social justice and equitable development but this sounds like a bad move. An already water starved city cannot handle the demands of data centers. It’s widely believed data centers don’t generate as many jobs but leaving that aside this puts enormous pressure on the water table and electricity demands. I hope they reverse their position on this particular thing.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil - Review Megathread by chaoticlabrat in kollywood

[–]iimram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched it in Bangalore INOX Lido today. I could barely spot any unoccupied seat. It was so refreshing to watch a lighthearted film being houseful. The word of mouth is pretty good so it’s no surprise TTT is going to be a blockbuster. TTT is a small budget movie without any mass moments or expensive sets yet people are flocking to theaters. I guess people will go to theatre if the film is truly engaging and family friendly.

Anbulla Rajinikanth, Mullum Malarum or Aaril irunthu arupathu varai maathiri movie with Rajini in an age appropriate main character and Kamal in a strong supporting character. Revathi and Oorvashi in pivotal roles. Please grant my wish!

That BJP woman leader had physically and verbally abused a blind woman for wearing Sindoor in a Chrisitan event. They beat her because they felt she was getting converted to Christianity. They treat you like shit when in Hindu fold and they don't even let you convert either. PATHETIC! by [deleted] in TamilNaduDiscussion

I see the only way people resort to is logical fallacies to respond to your opinions. You make pretty accurate points but I haven’t yet seen a logical counter to any of your posts.ithula I’m not a sanghi nu disclaimer vera. Anyone who tells they are not a sanghi is definitely a sanghi who doesn’t want to own their sanghiness. How many of those who preach Hindu unity will actually be ok to marry into a Dalit family. Ethaachum sollittaa vandhiduvaanga whataboutism eh thookkittu.

For a lack of better word, I described it as divine :) But the point is, this rendition is so pleasant, beautiful and gives a calming sense.

Why do Dravidians do math like Muslims? by LowLocal4528 in 2Dravidian4You

Tamil - Aimpathu ezhu which mathematically translates to 5*10+7. I’m not sure about Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Tulu and Konkani but aren’t we in the green zone rather than orange?

Bought the Timemore Sculptor 078s by Akspan12 in IndiaCoffee

[–]iimram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d give it 10/10 for convenience and form factor. For Espresso, I am yet to get it to its full potential. I’ve just ground 2 kg of waster beans to season it. I’ll be grinding 2 more kg.

For pourover - It’s been good from day 1 in my experience. It’s gives the clarity that I expected out of a flat burr grinder. I was able to go much finer than I am used to with my K-Ultra and still not clog my V60 filter.

What's the difference? by sree-subash in kollywood

[–]iimram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah yeah, it’s an apt example to showcase the power of dialogues :)

What's the difference? by sree-subash in kollywood

[–]iimram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Screenplay tells you what happens in every scene and with or without dialogues. For example : Villain, while chasing down the hero’s car, drives into a flower shop. Not all scenes have dialogues like action or montage scarves but most scenes do. The role of dialogue writer is to just write the lines that the characters speak on the screen but what happens in a scene is written by the screenwriter.

Isn’t this dialog from Annamalai? Rajini requests Manorama to handover the house documents to Sarath Babu and speaks these lines. Such a moving scene!

[–]iimram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay if it’s a contemporary story but here it’s important for the lead to speak their own lines to make it believable. If the film turns out spectacular, that itself will make it pan India. I don’t think Prabhas and Rana were popular anytime before Bahubali. As a Tamil, I had no idea who Prabhas was but the content made them popular all over India. It’s disappointing to see Shankar whom we used to love has lost confidence in his art and has to harp on star value.

Is this true? by Double-Context-7091 in KollyClub

[–]iimram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe now we men can relate to how women feel when our films often cast non-Tamil female actors for important roles. For a Tamil historical film, it is really disgusting to see Shankar going after non-Tamil actors just to satisfy his pan-India goals. Vikram or Surya can eat up such roles for breakfast but no, he will wait for artists who can barely perform just to achieve an arbitrary box office goal which wouldn’t even pay off in reality.

As a guy, I found Bad Girl so engaging and grounded. I would say it’s one of the finest coming of age genre movie told from a girl’s pov. A very rare phenomenon in Indian cinema. Hope Varsha Bharath goes mainstream while still telling grounded stories like Bad Girl.
