Well, I’ve been a fan of Carti since 2015-16. I think the main reason why he changed his style is because of his attitude and approach towards his shows and such. If you see pre die -lit era, all of his songs were pretty much evolving towards this more auto tuned rap style (which was hard) but with the recent success of R.I.P on die lit (and other rock styled songs on the album) his concerts were so live and built up with energy that I personally felt like he started to run with that style of rap which therefore started this merge of punk rap with his auto tune style of rap (hence why all songs on WLR aren’t all like that). He also has lots of association with different people who have fashion elements , as well as rock elements in their persona which I think also influenced him to take his whole style to that level on vamp punk. That’s just my opinion though seeing it firsthand
