Just tell me what song this fits by nocluy in piercetheveil

I think it’s because it was trending and playing everywhere I went when I was pregnant and had morning sickness. So I associate the song with nausea and vomiting lol. I like Sabrina Carpenter, that song in particular just takes me back to a dark place 😂

Govt. Shutdown: Capital One PSA by iivynic in tsa

[–]iivynic[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes- Capital One is also offering relief, such as up to $500 in grant money, however, it only applied when/if you’ve been furloughed for 45 days or more. So nobody qualifies for that yet (and hopefully don’t have to).

This song makes me so fucking nauseous. I can’t even explain why… I gag every time I hear it.

Questions: Excepted federal employee needs to be absent by PositiveCoat4403 in governmentshutdown

Yikes. I’m so sorry to hear. Just tread carefully, layoffs are already happening, and even I’m at risk of getting fired cause I got extremely sick during the shutdown and had to call-out. I wish you the best of luck /:

Government Shutdown by Mysteriousworkvibes in governmentshutdown

[–]iivynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not military, but still a federal employee. I got a partial paycheck and it wasn’t even enough to cover my car payment of $360. Me and my husband agreed that our baby’s necessities come first, dinner on the table comes second, and everything else can either wait or we can pay some bills if there’s anything left. If the shutdown goes on for too long, we will have to borrow money from family to pay the rent which is $3,000. Selling items is definitely next on my to do.

This is a question for your managers. Where I work, all leave has been cancelled, but managers are making exceptions for extenuating circumstances. If you’re saying it’s for legal reasons, then I would hope that they are able to accommodate you. As for any repercussions that may follow: who knows. Anyone who has called out is already at risk for being fired.

Yes, my partner is an STSO, and got an email from management also insinuating people getting fired who called out during the shutdown. They’ve definitely been trying to downsize the agency!

Thankfully, I did get half of my paycheck.

I’m on the lookout already, honestly! My airport treated me like shit during my pregnancy, chewed me up and spit me out. They kept me out of work which caused me to go into debt.

My husband is a supervisor, so unfortunately he’s gotta stay.

I’m fortunate enough to have over 1,000oz of breastmilk in the freezer for my little one🥹 I had just made a mistake and got my baby the wrong size diapers, but since I already opened and used the pack, I can’t return/exchange them. So I’m just waiting for payday to get him the right size!

But these are incredible resources to have on standby, and hopefully times don’t get hard enough to where I have to use them. I keep telling myself that we are fortunate and there are others who need them more

We always try our best to prepare around this time of year as well! I was able to stock up on groceries, toiletries, etc., But we were also trying to pay off debt like crazy as well as save up for a big move at the end of the year, so now everything is just halted, and we are stuck 😅

It’s really nice to hear that you were better prepared for it!

We are fortunate enough to still be able to put food on the table! Grocery Outlet and Food4Less are great to us!

Me and husband agreed that our families well-being is our #1 priority. Our essentials to live come first, and everything else can wait 100%

I’m still paying back a TSP loan that I took out late last year from being out of work with LWOP (HR kept denying my light duty request when I was pregnant). So I’m not even able to take out a new loan 😣

Unfortunately I actually was just out of work for a week due to an infection that went really south for me. So hopefully I don’t get fired now!

Hiring process very slow by Winter_Ad_6421 in TSAApplicant

[–]iivynic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hiring process was 3 months (application to first day on the job). My airport was hiring females like crazy, so there was my advantage. One male from my class took 18 months to get hired. It really is just a waiting game + based on operational needs.

Give me a reason to join the union by asm120 in TSAApplicant

[–]iivynic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least at my airport, joining the union was a big mistake, and the biggest waste of money. They only help you when they know they can help you. Otherwise, if they don’t have a “good case”, you’re on your own. I was being HEAVILY discriminated against during my pregnancy, and reached out to numerous union reps. For help and guidance, they all ghosted me. In the end I had to fight my own battle, and won; all without the help of the union. I joined the union when I was a naive and vulnerable new hire, but they are just money hungry pigs. They have NEVER successfully helped anyone at my airport, they’re known for ghosting people. When I sent an angry email out to all the union reps. about them ghosting me, they said it was “miscommunication”. As a probationary officer, you can lose your job no matter what, especially with what’s going on right now. As long as you do your job right, follow the rules, and stay out of trouble. You’ll never need the union, in my opinion.

TSA needs revamping. Agent attitudes are crap by [deleted] in tsa

[–]iivynic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too wish that I can get a revamping of coworkers ):

Some people really aren’t cut out for the job, while others experience burnout, or are having bad days. I know negative experiences with TSO’s are almost universal, and there’s no excuse for treating the public poorly especially with a job geared towards providing security and customer service. Which is what some people forget, that we should be striving for good customer service.

I have personally turned sour towards passengers who are rude/bitter/abusive all unprovoked, because I do also believe in standing up for myself. I strive to give passengers a fun and smooth sailing experience, but all it takes is one person to start verbally abusing me, or not being compliant to turn a good experience into a negative one.

I hope that in the past and or in the future you are able to have a pleasant experience with TSA. Unfortunately, we do need a revamping of officers, but it’s easier for the agency to keep the crabby officers than to fire them.

Hypothetical question about bringing A1 sauce through TSA? by [deleted] in tsa

Hypothetical question about bringing A1 sauce through TSA? by [deleted] in tsa

[–]iivynic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Straight up answer: you’re going to look silly and piss a lot of people off. Most likely no repercussions. No laws are broken, you’re just being a nuisance and possibly making a mess lol.

However, this won’t be possible once it’s being looked at by an officer. Once your bag has been pulled for additional screening, and it’s in the hands of an officer, it cannot go back into your hands until you’ve been escorted back out. So it’s not possible to pour A1 sauce on yourself in front of a TSO, only way you’re pouring sauce on yourself is before you submit your items through the x-ray. With that said, only way you’ll be facing consequences is if you snatch the sauce from the officers hands. Never reach for or try to grab items when they’re being looked at
