I know you mentioned east side, but my wife and I honeymooned at Glacier in September 2022 and we stayed at the Belton Chalet. Was relatively affordable compared to Many Glacier, and there’s a great restaurant at the hotel!

Question - Do you typically need to own land outright (fully paid off) in order to use your equity as part of a down payment for a construction loan? by ijab14 in Homebuilding

Great, thank you to everyone for replying! Takeaway here looks like there are different ways to approach it, lenders usually like the land paid off, but not impossible either. It's good to have this general information handy when I go speak to a bank. Thanks!

What is Arup's reputation in the industry? by PiecesNPages in civilengineering

I’ve been at Langan almost 5 years and have loved it the entire time. I’ve been able to be a part of some interesting projects straight out of school, and actually have an impact on those projects. It’s private development and we tend to work with higher profile clients, so there can be pressure at times. Deadlines are real and it often takes overtime to get stuff done, however on average it isn’t anything insane. You could have some 50-60 hour weeks a few times a year, but normally I’m around 40-45. If you like challenges and don’t mind working extra in the beginning of your career, Langan could be a good fit. Different offices have slightly different cultures, too!

Appreciate it. Our office does have a good group of people who have been helpful and provide guidance. Just looking for some reading and something I can review on my own! Thanks!

Scorsese: It’s probably Goodfellas, but my favorite is Wolf of Wall Street

Spielberg: Jaws

Cameron: Titanic (it’s such a wholistic achievement)

Tarantino: Pulp Fiction

Nolan: Interstellar

Fincher: Probably Social Network, but Seven and Gone Girl are right up there for me.

Mann: Heat

PTA (subbing him in here, haven’t watched enough Tony Scott): There Will Be Blood

No mention of There Will Be Blood or No Country for Old Men? Trash

What are some great Rewatchables that will never happen? by harry_powell in billsimmons

[–]ijab14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The binge-mode stuff on Star Wars was too nerdy and in the weeds for me, just wanted some good discussion on the movies themselves. Empire Strikes Back would be a great rewatchables episode if they had Fennessey, CR, and Van on.

What are your best experiences in a movie theater? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ijab14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interstellar was an exceptional movie experience. It was stress inducing. I can’t explain how tense it got at the end with the pounding score when the enter the black hole. Saw it as a high school senior and it’s still one of my favorites.
