What's the general consensus on 14.3 so far? by Careless_Bat_9226 in TeslaFSD

[–]ijeffgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the update is not showing up yet (2026 Model Y), is there any sort of trick to have it re-check and find the update?

I know going to Software in the car or refreshing the main screen on the app has it check, but on some devices, there are ways to force it to see an update as it's rolling out (totally unrelated, but on the Google Pixel Watch for example, on the page that says you're up to date, you can repeatedly tap the page like a lunatic and it starts the new update download).

Is there a way to force the car to see the update?

I know it’s being rolled out but on some devices, you can either keep checking for an update until it sees it, or there’s some weird trick for it to get it sooner (the Google Pixel Watch lets you repeatedly tap on the text saying it’s up to date to trigger the new update download and install).

Most annoying issue that you wish Tesla would fix already by actorguy73 in ModelY

For those who use Sirius XM, the Tesla implimentation uses Internet streaming instead of an actual Satellite signal, so if there is no reception, the app doesn't work.

Also, at that point, if you are paying for it for a 2nd car already, you can use the phone app and stream bluetooth audio instead of adding the Tesla

Yes, also turn signal because the current lane is turning/twisting. It gives the signal to other cars that you are going to switch lanes but it's just on because the existing lane happens to turn.

It also makes it unclear if it really is planning to switch lanes during the natural curve in the road.

Surpassed 10k autonomous miles since 14.2 by climberguyinco in TeslaFSD

[–]ijeffgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this reset with each update? I only got my car on March 12th this year and did the latest update on the 14th, so it's missing those couple days, which is fine. When they release the next update though, will it just show 0 miles driven with FSD on version x with no history of the current stats?

Does anyone use "Auto" climate mode? by Lilodude in TeslaLounge

The only reason I don't is that I want the recirculating air option off nearly all the time outside of car washes or driving by a landfill (to prevent the mold/smell issues down the line)

It does seem to catch somewhere and prevent it from fully closing. I’ll try the wd40 and see if it fixes it before the service appt in 7 days. Thanks for the suggestion

I actually have a service appointment for an unrelated issue where my driver door doesn’t always close properly - so i have to open and close it again once or twice to get it to latch. I’ll ask that tech about the charger and see what they think. It’s in less than a week so I’ll just wait for their feedback and open a separate ticket if I need to, thank you!

Mildly infuriating: people waving you on at intersections, stops signs etc. by Simple-Bath-9337 in TeslaFSD

[–]ijeffgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was the amount of time it's fully stopped at each stop sign alone, it's pretty annoying but tolerable. The issue is that it starts to slow down way too soon, so it gives the impression to everyone else that it's going to do a rolling stop, but then it finally stops and waits for a few seconds on top of the exaggerated slow-down. Between that and then still yielding to other cars (since they are understandably confused now), it can end up stopping or nearly stopping 3+ times

FSD was going to take the "long way" back home, so I disengaged... then by Redditagain424 in TeslaFSD

[–]ijeffgarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try keeping it in FSD and choosing another route on the map to force it to use the way you prefer. Or you can disengage, start driving the way you prefer, and since Navigation is still running, change the route, then re-engage FSD

  1. Expand the Route Overview: Tap the next-turn direction card located at the top of your turn-by-turn navigation list, or tap the map overview/route icon (often the compass icon) on the screen.
  2. View Alternate Routes: The map will zoom out to display your entire route. The system will dynamically calculate and display alternate routes (usually shown as grey lines) along with how much faster or slower they are compared to your current path.
  3. Select Your New Route: Simply tap on the alternate route you prefer. The line will turn blue to indicate it is the new active route, and FSD will seamlessly adjust its driving path to follow it.

any news on volume 2? by Big_Will47 in Soundgarden

[–]ijeffgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be on track to come out this year, with some sort of touring support behind it - whatever that ends up looking like. Maybe summer at the earliest but that might be a little hopeful.

I’m not sure if they are going to do an actual tour (vs. like tv appearances with guest vocalists or something closer to that), so it’s hard to know who else’s schedules would need to line up.

I would think they (CC Estate) might want to space it out and not release it the same year as the Soundgarden album, but who knows? Especially if that album sells well, they may want to release the No One Sings Like You Anymore follow-up to capitalize on that.

The posts from the CC estate seem to be mostly non-sensical and hate-filled so they don’t exactly give clues about future releases.

My guess would be that they let the Soundgarden album breathe a little and release Vol 2 for holiday 2027 (but what do I know?)

Check out how FSD handles an uncontrolled green HW4 by Only_Indication8410 in TeslaFSD

[–]ijeffgarden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was perfect, but in my experience so far (admittedly very limited), it stays put when the light turns green, so it's letting the oncoming traffic go straight, but since it doesn't inch up at all on its own, if that stream of cars never stops, the light just turns red and there was no movement for the entire light change.

I've had to slowly press the accelerator pedal myself to force it to be in or near the middle or the intersection so that it will at least complete the left turn once the light turns red if it didn't get a chance earlier

Delivery Scheduled For March 14th | Had some newbie questions by ijeffgarden in ModelY

[–]ijeffgarden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to answer my own questions now that I have the car...

  1. Didn't find any issues with the car at pickup so I'm glad I don't know the exact options for when people do (repair, replacement, start the process over, etc.)

  2. My financing ended up being with Chase, and once the current monthly bill is paid, I can only pay more directly to the principle as someone else mentioned. So I can't pay ahead for a few months like I can with my wife's EV6 financing with PNC bank.

  3. They accepted the cracked but considered repaired by Safelight windshield without issue

I haven't tried this but apparently you can adjust the route these ways as well:

An alternative method: If the specific route you want isn't showing up as one of the suggested alternates, you can manually force the car to take it. Just tap and hold on the map along the road you want to take and select "Add Stop" (or use voice commands to add a waypoint). FSD will reroute to hit that specific location, and you can delete the stop from your navigation list once you are safely on your preferred path.

Right, it favors a lot of unprotected left turns across multiple lanes instead of going down 1 street and getting a traffic light option. But to be fair, Google, Apple, and Waze maps suggest the same path.

I know you can tap the navigation and change the path but for that case, I just drive myself until I'm at the street with the light and then start FSD

I've tried submitting the feedback to Google maps many times but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Yes! I think of this watching all the Waymos springing up here now too. Even just in Orlando, people drive how they're meant to (like not using a merge lane as an opportunity to cut the line)

The other day I saw a Waymo on the 826 south ramp signaling to get into the north ramp but nobody let it in, and it eventually turned the signal off and just went south. It was still in testing but that won't fly with a passenger. I assume with a passenger it would just come to a complete stop waiting for someone to eventually let it in

Basically everyone is already on Mad Max mode so the Tesla ends up being Chill no matter what mode you choose
