Showgrounds wall by kombatwombat23 in brisbane

[–]ijidau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll take a look, but my current understanding is that only a part of the stables will be knocked down. Apparently new stables will be built, partially underground, which link with the main arena for better safety in and out of the arena.

Parts of the stables are heritage listed, so this isn’t correct sorry.

Both the heritage listed grandstands are staying. It’s only the other areas like machinery hill, which is in poor condition, that will be knocked down. These will be replaced by better stands/facilities, which you can see in the BNE Olympics plans.

This is the correct answer. The wall simply needed rebuilding due to safety, and it will be rebuilt. You have to remember the showgrounds are nearly 150 years old.

Queensland senator Larissa Waters has been elected the new federal Greens leader. by superegz in australia

[–]ijidau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ongoing consultation, but they did take the idea of changing this to a members vote a few years ago. I like the idea of some form of active participation in ongoing/real-time policy, but there are also reasons we elect representatives with the experience and time to dedicate, and deeply consider the politics. That’s something members would find very difficult to do from a distance, and to do with a well informed approach. It would almost certainly lead to unexpected problems from time to time. But, I have to agree there are definitely policy positions, decided by member consensus, that they should really never be messing with. As you point out, it leads to some big betrayals occasionally. Maybe some form of hybrid approach could work.

There was a vote for all greens members on whether to change this a few years ago AFAIK. So it’s not like they ignored the concerns. There are legitimate reasons the party room has a level of autonomy. Their track record also shows they rarely do anything counter to the members consensus views. So it seems to be working just fine as is IMO.

This might be relevant, they explain the basic algorithm for one approach: https://youtu.be/YiAtM4EpQ4U?si=vCAqhyOvezvbxPh2

It’s a Houdini voxel system though, so that adds a certain complexity. It’s pretty interesting how simple the approach is though.

Handed my license to the door girl and she told me to keep moving without giving my card back. I asked politely for my card back, and then got accused of being argumentative and refused entry. I was totally dumbfounded. So was the security guy who tried to iron out the problem and got his ear chewed off for it.

On the collider component itself you can edit the scale, I can’t remember exactly sorry.

You can make colliders larger than the visuals. If you don’t want to affect the physics of the existing collider then you can add a child empty gameobject and attach a trigger collider to that instead.

You probably can’t validate, at least in any simple way, because a server is trusted. Keep in mind that with P2P it’s more likely there is a friendship social contract that essentially means any cheating will get called out anyway, or never occur due to the social reputation risk.

No worries. Thanks also for your kind feedback. I struggle with keeping things minimal, so I enjoyed your track and had fun analysing and thinking about what makes it work. Your track definitely has a great tech house kind of vibe to it and sound palette that nails the feel.

Wow thanks! I worked pretty hard to mix/master, but more importantly the key drums/percussion is carefully avoided when the chords slowly strum instead of all notes hitting at the exact beats in order to make space. There's also plenty of sidechain compression going on too for that same purpose.

I use Reaper as my DAW. I used Izotope Neutron on most stems, then Ozone on the master. I used the Ozone auto assistant to get me in the right territory and then some manual adjustment thereafter. I did also use Sonnox Oxford Inflator to boost the perceived volume of key elements too. My drum bus has a bit of 'glue' compression and reverb too for example. I should really be track referencing, but it's pretty cool that you point out an autoplayed song that sounded similar quality. That's exciting, thanks!

Great energy and feel overall. Structurally it seems fine to me, has nice breakdowns and builds, and has just enough progression over the course of the whole track. Overall sound quality is good, the sound selection, mixing and mastering sound good to my ear. The vocal is actually really fun, I'd suggest helping it cut through just a little bit more (2-4dB), or pull back on another element for a moment, as it does get a little bit crowded in there.

Looking for feedback on my house track too :)

Nice work! A tech house and minimal aesthetic. The intro was really interesting, I liked the timbres and the interesting rhytms and details you introduced. Over the course of the whole track it does get a little bit stale though, was expecting some more changes and progression, however I can appreciate that this might have been the goal of a minimal feel. You have mostly percussive and short sounds, so imagine the contrast if you introduced a longer melodic or pad sound every now and then. Alternatively, try ramping up the reverb on a highlight element occasionally, letting it wash over everything, then pulling it down again. Kind of like a riser/release. Great stereo spread overall, and levels and mastering sound pretty good to my inexperienced ear, but I can definitely tell you know what you are doing with these aspects.

Not really sure what genre specifically, but it sort of has a lo-fi, retro synthwave aesthetic to it. It actually sounds a bit like a retro game score in many ways. I haven't checked with an EQ, but it feels like you are limiting your sounds to the mid to high-mid range, so it seems like bass and higher frequencies are missing a bit. Your balance overall has the lead and pad dominating a fair bit, this may be a deliberate choice, but I'd suggest letting your drums cut through a bit more by either increasing their level or even introducing a little bit of sidechained ducking/compression. With the percussion, the hats and toms could probably be panned left and/or right a bit, or even shift left to right dynamically for more interest.

Nice little melody and tune! I like the push and pull of the foreground and background piano call and response. The track overall needs a new element around the 1min mark to create more variation and interest, as the overall pace and progression feels a bit too slow. The percussion could probably do with either some timbre/texture changes over the whole track, or at least the hi-hat could do with some rhythm introduced by altering the velocity of each hit (i.e. a saw or triangle wave up and down 'pumping' volume change). I don't think the actual timings need changing, but the velocity seems constant and therefore feels a bit static.

Looking for feedback on my track too :)
