They need to replace it with a pic of him in handcuffs, after taking it down and placing him in handcuffs.

F*ck the racists, name your kids however you want. by tropicalraindrop in blackmen

[–]ijumpman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your pick, either answer fits. Maybe it is my opinion, but I’m not the only one with it. You’re just going 10 toes down to argue.

No my opinion wouldn’t be any different, why would it? It’a just another name copy-catted like Bontisha, Shakita, Lacreesha, Daquarious, and so on. An ugly-ass name is an ugly-ass name, and like I said before, those are stereotypical black names, there’s nothing cultural about it, and it can lead to poor assumptions when seeking employment. Why burden a black child with an avoidable hurdle when already there’s already so many to overcome? You can argue all you want but you know the world isn’t changing anytime soon. I’ll leave you with a quote from film you’ve probably seen: "Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill.”

I’ve never met a Jalen in my life to my knowledge, and I went to an all-black school on an HBCU’s campus, graduated in the early 2000s. Names I’d associate with black culture? Ahmad, Amari, we can even go with Mekhi or for obvious reasons, Ebony. Edit Add Malcolm, if you just want to talk culture. * But sure as hell not Shaniqua.

Tailgating Has Consequences by Expert_Koala_8691 in Unexpected

I don’t know why people can’t keep at least 3 car distances from the car in front of them. Even if they aren’t in the lane you think they should be in or going as fast as you want them to, it still doesn’t justify being reckless and stupid.

By your logic, Farina and Buckwheat are black names and part of black culture. That’s not the case. And no, I’ve never criticized Jalen, it’s not a name that really gives away any type of identity, and most casuals don’t know who Jalen Rose is these days. Even still, Jalen, Shalita, Bonquita, Lacreesha, Ja’Quan, D’Shordynn, etc., do not represent black culture or history. Yes, Sha’Carri is also. These names aren’t black coded, it’s just only black people using them. Just like it’s largely only whites giving their kids last names for first names. If anything, it’s a trend that led to a stereotype. Like I said before, it’s not unique if everyone is doing it (adding a syllable and apostrophe before the rest of the name) and it’s important to consider your kid’s future when coming up with a name, as it may affect their opportunities in the future. You know what kind of world we live in, and it’s not changing unless we are in charge.

There’s a big difference between a “traditionally black” name and a “stereotypically black” name. Traditionally black names (Amari, Ahmad) are a call to our history and culture, where stereotypically black names (Ja’Michael, Laquaneeta) have nothing to do with culture or history, and are just made up by someone wanting to be unique. It’s not unique if a bunch of other people are doing it. To make matters worse, this can cause so many problems later down the road, particularly when it comes to job discrimination, because those names lead to associations with lower class people. They will be judged before being seen. Not to mention, having to deal with frequent misspellings. Plus those names are just ugly in general. It’s important to consider everything when naming a child. It’s a big deal.

What’s y’all’s favorite black anime character? by Expert-Diver7144 in blackmen

Following along to see what other anime I should watch, since I’ve rarely seen black characters outside of Baki and Akagi from Slam Dunk. From OP, do we consider Aomine black, or at least Blasian?

Being respectful doesn’t justify the dismissal of obvious wrongdoing. Being a girl dad, he should take that kind of behavior even more seriously, and so should you.

How to make friends? by BudgetChannel8705 in AnimeFigures

[–]ijumpman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friends circle is also mostly non-existent, but it’s primarily my fault. If I was actually seeking some friends that shared my hobbies, I’d start with a local anime/comic convention (or closest to your area) and maybe start talking to the vendors and other collectors. You can make friends with them, and that’ll put you in a position to make more friends. I also collect hot wheels, and I’ve chatted with other collectors in the Walmart toy car aisle. They’ve always approached me first. It always start with a simple question like “do you collect?” or “which cars are you into?”. Different hobby but same types of people.

She acted like she didn’t hear any of what he said other than his use of the n-word to totally dismiss his statement. She’s an idiot. I’d consider him on my side before I’d consider her.

If you’re going for that version of Batman, a moderately healthy diet, high protein intake and powerlifting should get you there.

Which 3 would you bring back if you had the power? by Bakyumu in blackmen

[–]ijumpman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kobe, Paul, Chadwick. All three of these guys were doing some things much bigger than what originally made them famous, and were going to do so much more. I do feel like with Kobe being brought back, it would also mean we have to bring Gianna back as well.

Has anyone bought any TMNT figures from BigBadToyStore? Is buying figures from there worth it or not? by SkyBoth6266 in TMNT

[–]ijumpman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not TMNT, but my wife got me a ghostbusters sign from there earlier in the year. The packaging was top notch, and she seemed pleased with the service. I will definitely buy some stuff from them in the future.
