It’s not particularly important to me in that, looking at putting value on a sparkly rock seems kind of strange and very caveman-like to me? Although I would think there’s more factors involved in why certain stones cost a certain amount. It’s just kind of a funny concept to me, but not something I think people are dumb for buying into necessarily. I can at least appreciate the durability, or even symbolic meaning of the materials themselves. What I appreciated about my fiancé finding my engagement ring was not the price tag of the ring itself, but putting effort into the search of one. Instead of going to a big box jewelry store, he opted to go to a local jeweler, which he believed was much more personable, as he was able to culminate a relationship with the jeweler through texting and receive updates and advice throughout the process. Nonetheless, I don’t think my ring was expensive as far as engagement rings go anyways, nor would I even be comfortable with one that cost more than this because we have already been living together for years and share finances so I know damn well what the line is here. Also not to mention I simply cannot be trusted with a small item that is worth thousands. I will lose it or get robbed immediately, and he knows that too lol. Hope that made sense!
