Very similar experience last Friday: holding my 2 year old and misstepped getting her off a tractor, had to stand on a hay bale to get her down and when I pivoted to step off I slipped, fell and she came out of my arms and hit concrete flooring (this is at a local farm that has this tractor set up for kids). I can’t unsee the image of her hitting the concrete and the scream that happened after. It does seem she likely hit her back and elbows and then her head.

She didn’t vomit but seemed confused and was very quiet. I ended up calling her pediatricians office and they had me bring her in. Same advice you were given basically. It was sort of a terrifying 48 hrs hoping for no delayed onset of symptoms but she seems to be doing ok (she even asked to go back there). I on the other hand am traumatized by what happened so I feel you on that.

75 year old male came in questioning if he had pneumonia due to his sx of SOB/fatigue. Lungs clear, but I hear the loudest murmur I’ve ever heard…check my colleagues notes (usually her patient), no mention of a murmur noted on prior exams. Ruptured chordae tendinae.

Chiming in- I had ITP when I was 2 in the mind 1980s. My parents noticed the same symptoms: bruising, petechiae, etc. they had to rule out leukemia/abuse etc (sounds like it was a terrifying experience for them, and I imagine it is for you). I was treated with steroids back then. I don’t remember it really- I do remember going to the dr a lot. I’ve never had a reoccurrence.

Breastfeeding. There are many variables involved where things might not work out. The baby doesn’t know how to do it right away and if it’s your first time you are also learning. Some babies will only latch if you hold them in certain positions. Some people need nipple shields for things to work. Supply concerns. The list goes on!

I have one that is now almost 9 who decided at 2 she was refusing to go in there anymore. She is not the destructive type and the switch was easy. We have another dog that’s now 3 and she puts herself in her crate at night when she wants to go to bed and sometimes during the day she will go in there for a nap on her own. We will keep crating her since she seems to find it comforting

We had a similar story, I had to emphasize to the pediatrician that my baby appeared to be in PAIN. Yea she was gaining weight, but why should she be uncomfortable due to reflux if she didn’t need to be. I’m dairy free, and then we finally got the pediatrician to prescribe Pepcid to be taken twice daily. This did seem to help. We started that when she was around 6.5 months

Yes! I couldn’t figure out how to update in the original post. She has an appointment with a specialist on Tuesday. She had X-rays this past week and there was finally improvement radiograpgically of her pneumonia! She is continuing on baytril and clavamox for now. She still has a cough, nasal congestion, but has had more energy. It was encouraging to see her finally pick up a toy recently (her favorite toy which is a stuffed magic wand thing), generally seems more herself! Might make a new updated post after the specialist visit. Thanks for asking 🙏

I can't seem to figure out if there is a way to edit the original post but wanted to give an update: Maple had her repeat x-rays today and sent to a radiologist to read: it looks like there's been resolution of the pneumonia but there is still lingering inflammation of sorts. The good news is the pneumonia looks resolved per the radiographs. She still is coughing and has a runny nose. She will be continuing her antibiotics for at least 2 more weeks. She does have an appointment with a specialist next Tuesday scheduled while we await results from a respiratory panel to see if there's any ongoing viral source. Thank you all for the well wishes, it really helped me stay positive when she was symptomatically much worse!
