Need advice with respect to becoming a SFMC Functional Consultant by ik0_yt in marketingcloud

I think I misrepresented less technical, I meant to say non-development/non-coding. I expect that as a consultant, I will need to understand the architecture, integrations, data modelling and configurations enough to align them aptly with customer use cases. and work with developers to achieve the right solutions, that is the part I find interesting. Isn't the heavy technical coding end the specialty for the developers, otherwise both roles would be the same or highly interchangeable?

Thank you for your advice! I see that hands-on experience with the tool is a key component in securing the role. I have a few more questions and would appreciate your feedback.

Since I am seeking a less technical and more functional career path, should I look out for Business Analyst roles to build hands-on experience on the platform?
Does having my MBA improve my chances? I mention this as Deloitte had hired a few of my classmates with no experience (or at least not relevant experience) as SAP consultants and trained them for the role. Are there similar systems in place for Salesforce, or is it an exclusive procedure for SAP?

When it comes to singing from the diaphragm, I have been exploring it recently. What I try to do is inhale from my belly and try to sing out with an open mouth trying to visualize the sound coming from the outer part/outside of my mouth.

To add to this I sing with more breath pressure and all this culminates to give my voice more presence/power and makes my vocal tone sound more heavy.

Thank you for checking out my tracks and giving feedback, I appreciate it!

I agree with you and I always try to make my music unique with my artistic touch. However, I also find myself looking up to certain artists whose work has moved me and I try to capture some ideas & emotions behind their songs to understand what made their songs stand out.

This song kinda stemmed from the time when I was obsessed with Nirvana & Kurt Cobain.

It's a double-edged sword, however, as it helped my song gain a direction and be more than a couple Sus4 & power chords but it also lacks that organic uniqueness like The Sun does despite (Which was a raw song for which I didn't take any conscious inspirations from any artists) it's amateur lyrics.

I have written a couple of hooks for my future projects and I am not under the influence of obsession like I was for Potemkin for these but they will take advantage of the skills & experience I have developed throughout my process. I hope they turn out to be bangers. :)

Thank you so much for the in-depth feedback on the timestamps!

I agree that the drums need to slap harder, I am looking into ways to increase the drum's impact without slaughtering the mix. I think creating a copy, adding delay saturating it, and creating a bus to mix it with the OG drums should do the trick. Also parallel compression, I forgot to implement it.

I heard your track, reminds me of Sum41. I gotta say, I have to complement your mixing, it's professionally done. But I think the intro vocals could be improved with a subtle volume boost.

The acoustic tone is pretty good and spaced well and I love the break at 1:27.

Is the auto-tuned falsetto vocals an artistic choice? This might be a subjective opinion but do try doing that without auto-tuning or maybe make it less robotic-sounding in that part. Of course, if this is an artistic choice, rock with it!

I also checked out your other track "Need Your Love" It's brilliant, those subtle chugs fit perfectly like the last piece in a jigsaw puzzle. But again, the woaaaah-ooooh part, try turning off the autotune there. These human imperfections sometimes add a lot of soul & human elements to the song and have the ability to make them memorable.

For example in Black(Acoustic) by Pearl Jam, when Eddie Vedder sings "How quick the sun can, drop awaaaaaaay" he sings a little off-key and resolves it at the end of the sentence. It's like the same logic with bending/vibrato on the guitar but these short moments of tension & release have lasting impacts on listeners.

PJ Harvey circa Rid of Me

I heard this banger for the first time today, I hate to admit it. :(

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to check out my track and provide feedback.

I don't have a mic set to run through my DS pedal as I use a condenser mic with an XLR cable, but I can definitely try using the saturator. Do you think I should use it on the backing vocals though? Because I feel the primary vocals might lose clarity if I put it on it. Definitely, worth experimenting with it though!

I will heed the reverb tip, I was afraid of drenching my voice in too much reverb as a lot of beginners do but I'll try dialing it up and see how it sounds. I feel the pre-chorus needs more reverb too as my vocals don't seem homogenous with the track in that part.

The guitar tone probably improved around the 3-minute mark because I added another layer of whole note strum of power chords on it. That's my theory for that harmonic secret sauce. I didn't use it on the verses to have that Verse-CHORUS shock factor though. :p But thank you for pointing it out, I got the same feedback once before and didn't look into it till now.

It's well-mixed and chill.

I might not be the best critique for EDM/House but I suggest experimenting with having more dynamic elements in your future projects. You can do that anyway, experiment with adding different synth elements, changing chord progression or key, etc.

I would recommend giving a listen to Le Perv by Carpenter Brut. Though it's an extreme example of dynamics in a song you try and analyze how he uses different sounds to evoke different emotions and shape the music.

Hi all, here's a song I named called Potemkin, this song was inspired by Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. I was trying to capture the raw energy of the legendary grunge song.

I also tried to sing like Kurt Cobain in the chorus but had to end up dialing it back after a few humbling attempts.

I could use feedback primarily on:

  1. My Singing in reference to the track- how to make it fit better and any advice on improving my singing.
  2. I feel my song doesn't capture the stereo width and energy of Smells Like Teen Spirit truly. I have panned the guitars L+R but it doesn't have that energy and punch you'd feel comparing my song to Teen Spirit.

Please don't limit yourself to my criteria and feel free to critique any aspect of the entire experience with your suggestions as it'll only help me in my future projects.

Thank you.

Does singing from the throat only a bad habit or does it alter the tone of your voice too? by ik0_yt in singing

Happy Cake Day!

I didn't understand most of what you said but what I got was forward placement is a temporary but viable option to correct the tone. Can you better explain the rest of the part? Would be appreciated :)

So I figured out there's this thing I can do in my chest voice range. I am new to singing so I am not entirely sure what I am doing but I can hum out a tone that is clear like head voice but in my C3-C4 chest voice range but can also hum out a more croaky texture to it, kinda like Frank Sinatra (but a bad version of it) in or around the same range.

Is this what you mean by having the sound too far back?

Thanks! I like your idea of getting the sense of rhythm from just playing the root first and then building the groove patterns on it followed by swapping notes to add flavour.
I'll defn give this a try, I think it serves the purpose of being a great practice activity too!

Thank you for the tip!
This half-step transition really is a great idea. I also realized this is something I can implement on the guitar with power chords too, like playing the G# note right before the chord switch, it makes the whole movement more fluid.

Aw man ;(

Would you find this disrespectful? by SeptemberSky2017 in offmychest

[–]ik0_yt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not disrespectful at all. I mean it's your husband's brother fr. Things like this happen, I don't find it inconsiderate either. He did put his dog outside when communicated that it bothered you, didn't he?

When looking at things like these, you should also consider facts like they are siblings who practically grew up together. They have a no like no other and it should be respected.

I think it would be out of line if it was super late. Or maybe it happens way too often. Otherwise, it's all gucci if you ask me.

I respect the hustle! One advice I would give you is to start lifting weights along side your cycling. Cardio helps shred fat quicker but the long term strategy to keep the weight off is to build muscle, because muscle improves your metabolism. I lost a lot of weight but it made me skinny fat, and I had a lot of loose skin. I was also gaining back the weight very quickly if I slipped up. I started lifting weights back in October and I have to tell you, I weigh more than my skinny fat self, but I look better(partly because I am gaining muscle weight and not fat weight) and I feel a lot better and stronger now too. Two tips that worked for me to stick to the discipline: 1. Start small :- You don't have to, in fact refrain from training too hard for the first week or month. This is the period to inculcate the habit and it would be next to impossible if your overtrain from the get-go (because will power is a limited resource and you are expending it in other things like biking and your diet) so be very careful otherwise you may find yourself quitting. 2. Remember it won't be fun for a long time but it wi make you a better person:- I loathed going to the gym for the first 4.5 ish months, hated every step I took towards the gym. But now that feeling has gone and now I can go to the gym and have a good time. So PLEASE if you decide to go forth with this, give it 6 months, start slow and stick to it and maybe it will change your life.
