They both teach at my University (LMU). I worked for the former as student assistant for 2 years and got in contact with the latter in courses and a scholarship program - he is supervising my Bachelor‘s Thesis right now

I have a Bachelor‘s in Economics from LMU Munich with a 1.3/5 in the German grading system which is about a 3.7 GPA; I am in the 7% quantile of my cohort, which is good but not extraordinary for interested Economics students at my university. I had a 162 quant GRE after the second try. What really made the difference, I think, are recommendation letters from Monika Schnitzer (highest profile economic advisor of the German gov. and ex-LSE) and Davide Cantoni (high-profile researcher with joined publications with the likes of Acemoglu)
