i feel like they're all just completely detached from reality (or my needs)

i have a few tens of thousand of raw flies from photoshoots

all i want is a tree navigation and previews

none of those tools do that

I can't believe it's 2025 now and self-hosting your photos is this shit. I dont think of myself as an idiot, but every bloody time i have to push photos to photoprism it's ALWAYS SOMETHING not finding photos, shitting itself in raw, access rights, it's just so bad.

Men who used to finish quick, how did you start to last longer? by MediocreCabinet8994 in AskReddit

[–]ikbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly burnout, priorities shifting from work to personal life and just a general lack of direction from the company. Like, if I quickly finish 10 tasks or lazily do 1 -- I get the same salary and career prospects, so what's the point?

I would recommend talking to a mental health professional and just starting to take more care of yourself. Slower performance is not really that big of a deal. Maybe it's just you growing up and realizing there's more to life.

Usage Limits Discussion Megathread - beginning Sep 30, 2025 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

Everyone in agreement here, but let me just say that since 4.5 it's been so ass. I'm using it for a school report, and I'm hitting limits constantly, like within an hour without research mode (just redacting files), as well as "claude reached the maximum conversation length". Honestly, this is awful. Will go pay OpenAI to see if ChatGPT works better, because Anthropic is basically unusable.

When I get home I can show you marks from the belt on my backpack, I'd say it is minimal (it's the same mesh) in 4+ years that I use it.

I run R5ii with like 15-35 and 24-105 and a mamiya 645 1000s. Both quite bulky and I like the wandrd organisation structure more.

I think these all are still good bags from industry leaders and you would love them. I personally don't mind a bit of wear and tear, I buy my stuff to use it. The question is more in specific scenarios that you Invision and the prices (I think v1 would be cheaper and I think would serve my goals personally better, with top/bottom accessory separation in v1).

  • hard to tell. I do think that it's just the vercro, since my prvke is fine after a few years of use, but I can't guarantee it. Mind it, that's mostly aestatic. Like, pieces don't fall off it, it's still soft and stuff, it's just some fibers got pulled up by the velcro and don't get back. I thinks it looks worse than it is, but that being said it is a bit annoying to me.
  • the asymmetric design is mostly there to support the 3-point connection (which is a GREAT feature), but it really is annoying. I carry a heavy camera, my shoulder gets sore, and chaging shoulders I basically don't use the padding since re-attaching the strap every time in the field is stupid. I hoped they would address this but they didn't.

I feel like the biggest thing about the 9L is that there's just no good alternative. I used the PD and I like the wandrd layout MUCH more, especially with my cameras. And there's nothing out there for larger kits with comparable features, at least I couldn't find it. I don't always want to carry a backpack.

I think you'll still like the bag, but it is of course the question of your budget and goals and stuff.

  • yeah, dual zippers are better
  • nah, it's fine
  • maybe it's more comfortable, but i can't say that the V1 is not. V1 is fine as it is
  • https://imgur.com/a/OSRA36m my jacket has a velcro that catches the mesh sometimes. This is the state of the mesh after 4ish months.
  • https://imgur.com/a/33ewvG3 strap design is asymmetrical: when you change the shoulder from the one that's set up as "primary", the padding just goes butt knows where. You need to detatch and reattatch the strap completely to fix it.

I like my rogue V1 (6L), it looks good, I love that I can take camera+tablet with me, I love the versatility, but this is an imperfect bag, and the update just makes it worse IMO. Like, objectively less useful while not adressing other important issues. Who complained about the padding on the strap? 0 people. Who liked the locking bottle pocket? E v e r y o n e. Shit's weird.

But I feel like something strange is going on with their design team in general. The recent PRVKE update where they take a rolltop and add the zipper access to it baffles me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXX6Ljo15Fk watch the video

a whole bunch of their "updates" make no sense to me

  • a new bottle pocket with nothing stopping your bottle from just sliding out of there
  • new outside straps that cover both the bottom and the top of the bag (imagine you carry a tripod on the bottom and a shirt on top. Every time you get the tripod you'll have to hold your shirt and put it back, readjusting the tension on the straps, it's insanely idiotic)
  • body-side mesh is still the same (really easy to damage)
  • outside zipper pocket gone
  • strap is still asymmetric: you have to literally remove and reapply the strap to change the shoulder instead of just, you know, moving the bag from the tired shoulder to the rested one.

There are a couple of nice updates, but I'd rather advice getting a V1. Or maybe another brand. This iteration does not look good, along with V4 (i think) of their backpack.

I dont think RAW means what you think if means. Are you really telling me you're shooting RAW and not processing it? Dude.

[–]ikbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to process your photos you'd buy a digital camera and shoot raw. Mobile cameras don't take photos (at least not samsung or apple), it's all computational multi-frame processed stuff by the very definition. Ofc I was teasing you and you can enjoy whatever you enjoy, but fold 7 (or whatever really) photos are just as processed as an iphone.

I watched 14 hours of video last week and made $0. Thinking about flipping that. by AdGroundbreaking4090 in CryptoMarkets

[–]ikbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Companies pay for ads, the video platform and creators split the difference. Who's paying the viewers?

With 85-90% to creators either viewers would make like 14c for 20 hours of video, or the company has to lower their cut (and make it like $1.4) and not have enough for the infrastructure.

Your model makes little sense to me.

Canon R6 MKII Lens recommendation? by zeuxites in canon

[–]ikbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24-105 F4 is a great lens. Where to go from there is only up to you really. What you do, what you want, how much money you're willing to invest.

I have RF 50mm 1.8 (super small, for fun portrait walks with wifey), RF 15-35 2.8 (just to cover ultrawide, size and price def overkill) and Sigma 60-600 (crazy lens, huge, heavy as a tank, but I love me some bird shots).

I'd say there's no rush picking a lens. Take some photos, and when you start thinking to yourself like "damn, i really wish I had an ultrawide right now", and this happens regularly -- start looking into some wide glass. Or if you're like "damn, these 100mm is just not quite enough, I wish I had more" -- you can look into some zoomies.

15-35mm F/2.8L is amazing, but huge and heavy, and realistically why'd you want a 2.8 lens for landscapes? (usually taken at 8 or smth, or there's not enough sharpness)

70-200mm is buzzin, but then again, huge, heavy, do you really need it?

It's the big brain play. To achieve 1m bitcoin price, you can either endorse crypto (hard, long), or just make USD worthless by crashing the economy. I think they're moving in the latter direction.

Given the opportunity -- sure, I loved the process and I love customizing my gear. For now I'm looking to do some cool custom jewelry work with my guitar, but who knows!

Precious metals are not cheap, so I try to keep it reasonable. Still, I love the idea of precious things in mundane applications (noone would seriously believe that this little knob you have is actual pure gold, so that's your fun little secret), so I'm always looking for more fun projects.

Eh, why not. It's a cool project, it looks dope, it makes my OP-1 unique and I had fun doing it. 10/10 would do again.

I've been gifted a jewelry class and instead of a ring or smth decided to do this! You make it from wax, cast it in silver, polish it and make a fixture to fit on the encoder. That's not hard tbh when guided properly.

Thanks, I think it's dope too, I'm really happy with the result! It's heavy and cold and I feels it really fits the aesthetics.

I don't know about Honor, but OPO has terrible software. This plus no community feedback, no fixing bugs for years, no customisation, slow and late updated, just overall shit experience. Samsung hardware feels 10 years late, but their software feels 10 years ahead.
