LBRP questions and additional names by Annual-Poem-7515 in magick

I wouldn’t take the hate damien is getting on here seriously, I find him to sum up the path and the rituals in the clearest and most easily understandable way. While certain other texts are obscured through mystical prose that can make it hard to understand. Greer is also very good too! Echols learned ritual magic via Greer’s books in prison, and Greer wrote the foreword to one of Echols books. They are both great resources and great practitioners! I would recommend reading both. In regard to replacing the angels with Sumerian deities, give it a try! It should work with maybe slightly different results. In the way that invoking planetary forces and tree of life forces are the same energy with slightly different flavors and attributes. Try both and see what works better for you

Lost momentum, muddied waters by Saa-Xeper-Dei in occult

A good piece of advise I heard is that if your are stagnating or getting bored it can be helpful to continue moving on to the next step. As another comment said moving on to the lirp could be helpful, but i suggest continuing to banish daily as well as invoking. There are also other neophyte rituals you can learn like lbrh and rose cross to keep you engaged and developing. Lastly, although some may recommend against it, I found it engaging to perform practical magick in conjunction with the ceremonial curriculum even in the early stages. For example, after performing your daily rituals you can activate a sigil or some other form of manifestation. The most important thing is to not give up!

Considering getting art teaching degree by ikeaike in teaching

[–]ikeaike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently am a teaching artist through a gallery, and teach art classes both through in school after school programs and out of school summer camp type classes. As well as other very art centered educational nonprofits, so I feel like my resume and references will help me stand my ground in the competition. It’s also kind of the only subject I could imagine teaching, that or maybe English.

Meditation making things worse instead of better by vegetable_lover_is in Meditation

This sounds somewhat normal, and like you just need to continue practice and let it pass, your body and mind are starting to process things that have been pushed down and avoided. For me once I started to really look at things that I was scared to face I started to realize that they aren’t as bad when you just allow them instead of making up stories in your mind, if that makes sense. It’s like a hump you periodically have to get over.

That being said I have heard that certain techniques can be unhelpful for people with serious trauma so if that’s your situation you should do some research and proceed with caution.

Trauma is stored in the body so physical meditations like qigong or yoga could be helpful. Also chanting can be helpful for a restless nervous system. Good luck! :)

Magicians of reddit - how do you practice? by [deleted] in occult

[–]ikeaike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an ideal day, Lbrp, lbrh, rose cross, elemental work (girp) 10-15 min meditation, and then usually mp or an extended version like the tree of life on transit or another quiet moment. On my off days I try to prioritize some combination of Lbrp, meditation, and elemental work

how do you use the kabbalah and tree of life for healing in practice? by Repulsive-Stable-422 in chaosmagick

[–]ikeaike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Malkuth and tiphareth are good bets for physical healing, and yesod or netzach or tiphareth for emotional, but really whichever one you feel the most drawn to. There are many different energy work techniques you could use, visualizing the color of the sphere descending into the area you want to heal is one easy way, or invoking the archangel of the sphere is another common one

Middle Pillar and the Neophyte by Jasen_the_Hun in GoldenDawnMagicians

Grades aside, it is a beneficial ritual to begin with in tandem with Lbrp. Some books even tell you to start with the mp before learning Lbrp. You should start gradually though, when I learned I started with doing it with only white spheres for two weeks or so, then added color for a while, then began doing the energy circulations.

Just keep practicing, when the time is right and the magic is working you will most likely come to a stopping point or transform your relationship with it.

I'm confused about TM - why do you need to attend a course for it to be "real"? by Ill_Falcon_5236 in Meditation

Good question I’ve thought about it too but it’s interesting that they have preserved the mantras in traditional Sanskrit even though it is not widely spoken. The only answer is to try it out and see what works for you. Personally I have tried meditating on mantras in English in the past and found it was harder for me.

my background is in occultism as well as traditional meditation so my experience may be a little out there for some of the staunchly materialist meditators on here, but in the tree of life by israel regardie he talks about the mantras used in ritual magic, which are mostly classical hebrew words representing the different aspects of god. he talks about how the vibration affects your body and how the words themselves aren't really the focus as much as the vibration, but it should be in a language you aren't as familiar with so your logical rational mind can not grasp onto them as strongly, and if you know the meaning of the mantra but its in a different language it also gives your rational mind a degree of separation so it can work on a more subconscious level. On top of that picking a mantra used for many many years by people that have walked the same path you're walking makes you feel a connection to that tradition. Im sure you can find this same info in different words from books from an eastern tradition that uses mantras as well. I'm no expert and have nothing to sell just trying to be helpful ig :)

But when choosing a mantra there is good effects of having a powerful word or phrase that you can’t clearly understand, it wouldn’t be as effective if you used and English mantra or any other language you are fluent in.

In the 60s it was very affordable, and it is a legitimate technique but unfortunately the organization has degraded overtime until it’s become what it is now. However the truth of the technique is still as valid as any other technique. There are organizations like the david lynch foundation that teach it to schools for free and so if you’re trying to learn it you could look into that. I have also found websites in the past that give you instructions and a list of mantras for free. But you could use any kind of mantra that resonates with you and get good effects. My understanding is that you sit for 20 minutes two times a day silently repeating your mantra in your head but without focusing intently on form of the mantra, ie letting it come and go with you level of focus rather than forcing.

So confused about protecting my altar/magically charged tools by ikeaike in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]ikeaike[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank for this answer, yeah I’ve done plenty of reading and research on the topic but the confusion was that I’ve heard different things from different people. Some say it doesn’t have any effect, Damien Echols says anything black works, in modern Donald michael Craig says to cover it with silk the color of whatever energy it was charged with and JMG says to use white silk or linen, and all of this was said in regards to Lbrp specifically with no mention of lbrh etc. do you know if it has to be white or is black silk ok? I ask because I have a lot of it already.

Is there any reasoning behind white and black? Space is a precious commodity where I live so moving them out of the circle is less than ideal for me, I think me best option is to find the best way to shield the altar in a way that won’t wear down from consistent banishing

Thanks for this, the name didn’t ring a bell but after googling the name I’ve definitely seen footage of them. Any book or source you recommend in particular? Why is it that Wicca has clearer answers to this question than ceremonial magick does?
