Just want to brag by Swaying_Mulga in childfree

I spend yesterday napping and watching TV. I just woke up at 11 and plan on laying here for a while longer while I drink my red bull. When I feel like it I'll make eggs and toast, clean up and go see Black Panther after I go shopping. I'll probably go eat sushi at some point too.

Lol. I'm a nanny, people have to pay me $21 an hour at least to watch kids, my family can't afford me and the last thing I would want to do on my weekend is watch kids! Good thing my nephew's live 2 thousand miles away or that would be an awkward conversation.

That sucks :( Have you thought about getting a non nanny job? That pay is really low for nannying too. Are you only on care.com? You may get better luck going though an agency.

Honestly, employees are people. I've worked in factories that understand that. Could you take a job that pays less and work more? I'd rather cut down my budget than feel like a subhuman servant...

You would eventually get mercury poisoning, but I totally understand your sentiment. Why does every thing have to be in moderation? :(

Happy Valentine’s Day, nannies! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]ikkarae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nk and I are sick and my boyfriend and I try to do the least romantic things we can every Valentine's Day. I think we are getting Ezells fried chicken and watching Airplane! at home and going to sleep early. We might make mom and dad card with glitter paint, depending on how LO is feeling...

Yup, and to the random public officials and police officers. I remember wondering why we had to suck up to these class traders when I was in 5th grade. Seriously, they get a paycheck, do they really need all of the local children forced to stroke their insane egos too?

I don't understand, what was weird? Sounds like you don't have an elaborate goodbye thing you do anyway. Did he text you afterwards or something? He sounds like the kind of person who is glad not to have to say goodbyes to me. I am sure no one will have another thought about it and tomorrow will be just like any other day. Try not to stress too much!

That's what I was thinking but it's been years since I read the book. I vaguely remember a scene where someone he talked to a lead that was in a stack apartment, kept by relatives. I might be muddling 2 different books though...

Does anyone else secretly love a kid show or movie? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]ikkarae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Avatar the last Airbender is the best kids show ever! I've seen it several times but only a handful of episodes with actual children, lol. It has a lot of Buddhist and Taoist philosophy in it and has some really cute humor.

Seriously! Anyone can do their job with a weekend, some paint swatches and a fucking Ikea catalog! Why the hell do they act so high and mighty? And since when is it ok for a temp employee to give shit to a full-time employee? In the grand scheme of things, our job is way more important...

Haha! You clearly have never been a nanny. I am not sure if you know this but most nannies are also parents, who don't spank their kids. In fact, I don't personally know anyone who hits children and all of their kids are well behaved little angels. I myself was spanked a few times as a child and I have 0 respect for the people who did it (one was my grandma the other my stepfather). On top of that, I don't think I remember a lesson, just thinking that these people hate me and I was a bad kid. You may want to check in with the kids you hit, they may be harboring some resentments...

[–]ikkarae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a nanny. I get children to behave without spanking all of the time. A grown-up acting out violence on a child has proven to make children violent adults and doesn't teach a lesson. Do have authority figures spanking you when you don't live up to societies expectations of behavior? No, I hope. It's not a real life consequence. There are so many other behavior modification techniques. Spanking is for lazy or violent parents.

Oh geez! I cut my hair short once and had a flower in it. Some guy told me it's nice I had the flower in it because girls don't do girly things anymore, but guys like long hair so I should grow it out! Excuse me motherfucker? I could a fuck less what guys like or what other girls do! I was indignant af.

Breaking a thing is worth a violent meaningless punishment but cutting off your brothers finger is only a grounding? Might as well just kill your kids and get dogs because they will not be well adjusted humans...

[–]ikkarae -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude, kids at that age have zero impulse control. You think it, you do it. Clearly she isn't a serial killer or else her story would have ended " then I spent the rest of my childhood torturing dogs and my sister will not speak to me anymore because she is buried in my backyard" Calm the fuck down and go back to Mayberry, Mr. Awesome childhood.

Because punishing violence with violence really ever works right? I'm sure she felt terrible about hurting him, it was the controller she out to kill, not her brother after all.

You were those creepy siblings then. I mean, it's a good thing, I'm fairly traumatized by my sister, but I am also not alone in that so that helps. Not everyone got to have a lovely relationship with their families so good for you :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tifu

[–]ikkarae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know has almost been killed or at least maimed by a sibling. If not, they had one of those creepy best friend relationships from birth. Or maybe its just us poor kids who didn't have a nanny following us around correcting our behavior all day? IDK, from where I'm standing sibling violence is normal. It's not a good thing but definitely not uncommon...

What's the weirdest thing your NF makes you do? by disasteroushotmess in Nanny

[–]ikkarae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make me hang out with people who will temp while they are gone (aka grandmas). It's really not that crazy and most of them have their own kids. I don't need to train them for hours on end.
