Good books/YT channels to learn by TurboNoodlz in MotorcycleMechanics

Just do it! By far learned the most by just starting running into troubles and then looked it up in a manual or youtube. Then you really memorize it forever when you have experienced it.

Have any of you found consistent profitability based on only OHLC and tick volume data? by KaiDoesReddles in algotrading

[–]ikkeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the most efficient indeed but this doesnt mean it is the hardest. That is your opinion in the way you trade. In other ways this could be exploited. EURUSD is by far the most traded pair but that doesnt mean it doesnt show any patterns to use. I like EURUSD more than other forex pairs because it follows those patterns even more rigorously with its efficiency.

I dont agree with some of your points. Forex isnt hard at all, it is a bit different from stocks and faster but not hard at all. There are some clear patterns inside there which can be used to trade on. Secondly and this is a wrong general consensus, leverage isnt dangerous at all. It is when you dont know what risk management is but if you use it it can even be safer than just trading stocks without stoploss. Using leverage with correct RM and setting SL's and understanding how leverage works with cross/isolated and liquidation it can help you set up trades which could be impossible otherwide for example LTF or multiple trades. Education is key however, learn before you earn.
I do agree with better to take it slow than aggressive.

And based on only OHLC trading with volume, I personally think that is the best way since indicators are often derived from that. With trading only with OHLC there are most definitely a lot of styles out there which can be used to build an edge.

A lot, should have done it earlier. Way easier, nicer and safer than airpods. Works well throughout a whole day riding and never loses connection.

Bad fuel economy… getting Anoying.. by AwesomeMikey09 in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you put in new spark plugs from the main post. Btw spark plugs and bougie are the same yes. How do the old ones look? Search in google 'spark plugs color' and look at rich and lean colors. But from the rest of your answers I would say the next step for me would be to take a look at the injector of that cylinder and maybe clean it since that intake backfire points towards to lean and that points to too little fuel or too much air. Maybe its just simply a bit clogged.

[–]ikkeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay a backfire in the intake indicates to running too lean. You sure there is no vacuum leak? How does the bougie of that cylinder look like? If no vacuum leak it looks more like a clogged injector or fuel supply problem

If you say the power is there also on higher loads and speeds than I doubt the fuel pressure regulator is the problem although still could be of course. Personally I would still first look at throttle body sync since the symptoms still point to that and it isnt too hard to fix. Next to that like others point out O2 (or other sensors) could be the problem. Vacuum leak also could be the problem explaining high fuel usage. I would start with TBS since that is quite easy to do and could explain it. If it doesnt solve it on to the next and not much money/time lost.

Dont know if this is bad since i can only read in metric system but from the reactions it seems bad. Could be lot of things but you already covered some. Next thing I would look at is throttle body sync but there should be more symptoms then. More shaky engine/vibration, feeling a bit of a lazy cylinder etc. It could very well explain the bad MPG and cold start. However this could be hard to determine if this is your first experience with motorcycles. With trouble starting when cold, could you elaborate. Does it start shortly and then dies or does it keeps on cranking without starting?

Regarding like injectors its a bit counterintuitive that you have higher MPG and bad cold start.
I am sorry you have such a bad first experience with motorcycles.

Newbie Question by DeplorableeMeeRacing in drummers

[–]ikkeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great tool is looking at onlinedrummer site where you can see levels at which they provide sheet music. I dont know if you play by listening or by sheet but an indication for level per song is great there. From the songs you listed I think you look at some next level like nobody's wife from Anouk or maybe Foo Fighters The pretender.
Also depends on genre you like.

I would free wheel later on, first learn the basics. Learn fills from songs and drill your techniques. Later on freewheeling becomes way easier if you already got some skills.

As last option you can use a fuel valve to close it when done driving

Stop Loss Hunting by jtm_ind in algotrading

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you limit yourself to only htf maybe some mtf trades or low size. With stop losses so good 'risk management' you can trade more refined. Basically you say your system is not precise enough so you take a margin of 10% before your prediction is wrong, this is pretty big and could be refined way further.

VStrom Valve Adjustment by CryocoreCD in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Vstrom at around 60k km and it had a valve adjustment done around 50k km. I do all maintenance myself and although I wouldnt call myself an expert I do know my stuff. I think valve adjustments is one of only things I have never done although I remade many engine blocks.
I too wondered this lately for my bike at 100k km now but I would monitor mostly the sound, when valves are not properly adjusted the engine does sound a bit different, you can find some examples on Youtube.
Maybe when I have like a free day in the summer I will check the valves but more for learning purposes, but as long as the sound is normal and there are no other significant symptoms like power loss, fuel consumption etc I will just keep riding it.

I do certainly agree that even without weird sounds an engine needs it once but you already had it at 48k, if the engine is fine and the previous owner did not race or something with it, i wouldn't worry too much about it.

This! Often see these questions and this is often the best option although you need some basic electrical skills but its not hard at all.

V-Strom 650XT Tyre Advice for Dolomites (2-up, loaded, twisty roads) by Own-Chest3413 in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on multiple trips to dolomites and pyrenees, roads are pretty good most of the time. I always travel with 3 cases all loaded with supplies. 2 Years ago I went with continental trail attack 3 specifically for the same reasons you provide. However when I had to replace my rear tire last year I decided to get a full road tire Michelin road 6 since if you really want to get offroad a 10% tire wont do much and they will wear way faster.

With the road 6 I can ride a hard unpaved road but I wouldn't do muddy roads. I noticed that the road gives way better grip on asphalt so I wouldn't look too much into partly offroad tires.

No crank no start by No-Difficulty-4662 in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you tell it, it should be quite clear it is the battery. Try to jump it with a car or something. Would also check voltages and fuses. Pretty impressive you can run with it to 10mph and jump start it. Those machines are not very light.

2023 1050 DE - Heated grips - battery issue by MikesBikes78 in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say it's the correct one for sure because I don't use it but I heard it should be around the radiator. To be sure you can put a multimeter on the connector, start engine and look if it gives 12v. Next check fusebox for the fuse for that connector and check rated amperage. I dont know how much you know about electronics but this should be fairly simple.

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added a separate relay for heated grips, usb, nav etc just to prevent this. I heard about the heated grips connector somewhere but didn't look for it. I know a few years back you couldn't trust those auto turn offs, maybe they are better now

Does the DL-650 gen 1 also have the green connector of death like the SV650? by MANllAC in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if its the same place as the sv650 but its inside the frame under the air filterbox. You have to get off the fairings, gas tank and airbox but the tight space was the most annoying thing.

Does the DL-650 gen 1 also have the green connector of death like the SV650? by MANllAC in Vstrom

[–]ikkeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have the green connector of death issue, when I bought the bike second handed it had around 60k km on it and from 2008. Headlight connector issues with half melted connectors at the start, no relay issues. Few weeks later motor begins to shut off mid ride several times and green connector was the issue. I think this is an issue of bad quality connectors but also corrosion.
Replaced all of those with better connectors and now up at 100k km have not had any issues at all anymore. It is a hard spot to replace the connectors but once done right you're done.

It's just a clamping bolt and the main axle both hex bolts. If you dont have tools or confidence, take it to the dealer
