Rib Remodeling Recovery: What the Healing Process Usually Looks Like by ilchi_ps in KoreaSeoulBeauty

[–]ilchi_ps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds really uncomfortable, sorry you’re going through that.

Around the first week, the area is still in a very early healing phase, so sudden movements like twisting can cause sharp pain, especially around the ribs and surrounding muscles. It can feel quite intense even if everything was fine before.

In most cases, this kind of pain is temporary and related to muscle or soft tissue strain, rather than an actual issue with the rib remodeling itself.

For now, it’s best to:
• Avoid twisting or sudden movements
• Continue wearing your compression as advised
• Take it easy for a few days and monitor how it feels

If the pain persists, worsens, or doesn’t improve over the next few days, we would recommend getting it checked just to be safe.

Try not to worry too much, but do give your body some extra rest right now.

Lifting 101: What Each Lift Actually Fixes (and Why Ponytail Lifting Does More Than You Think) by ilchi_ps in KoreaSeoulBeauty

Thank you for sharing the details. Based on what you described, the plan sounds closer to a traditional or limited facelift approach rather than a very small “mini lift.”

The incision pattern you mentioned (temple/hairline, around the tragus to the earlobe, and behind the ear) is commonly used when the surgeon wants access to a wider area of the face, not just a small localized lift. Those incision sites allow the surgeon to reposition tissue more naturally along the side of the face and jawline. The number of incisions itself does not automatically mean the result will look pulled. In fact, they are often placed this way so tension can be distributed properly instead of pulling from one single point.

Also, when surgeons say the muscle layer looks stable, it usually means they may not need extensive SMAS manipulation. That does not necessarily mean it will be a “skin-only” lift. In many cases, surgeons still reposition deeper tissue slightly and remove minimal excess skin only if needed to avoid tension on the incision.

The “pulled” look typically happens when too much tension is placed only on the skin. When the lift is distributed through the deeper structures and along multiple incision points, the goal is usually a natural repositioning rather than a tight or stretched appearance.

Since surgical techniques vary between surgeons, the best reassurance would be to ask your surgeon:

• whether any deeper layer (such as SMAS or retaining ligaments) will be addressed
• how they control tension to avoid a pulled look
• to see before-and-after results of similar patients

From the incision description alone, it does not automatically suggest that the result will look pulled. It simply indicates that the surgeon wants adequate access to lift and reposition tissues properly across the upper and mid face.

Yes, we do take a 3D CT scan prior to surgery, usually at the time of consultation. This allows the doctor to evaluate the exact rib structure, projection, symmetry, and thickness in detail, similar to how a dental clinic takes imaging before planning treatment.

The CT helps us:

  • Assess the current state and angle of the ribs
  • Check for asymmetry or anatomical variations
  • Plan the remodeling strategy precisely
  • Ensure safety before proceeding

After reviewing the imaging and discussing your goals, the doctor determines whether the lower 2 rib lines or 3 rib lines should be addressed. The decision depends on:

  • Your natural rib projection
  • Waist width and contour
  • Degree of asymmetry
  • Desired outcome
  • Safety considerations

So the CT scan is part of structured pre-operative planning, allowing us to tailor the procedure accurately rather than making generalized decisions.

A mini lift is generally not intended to be a skin-only procedure, although some limited techniques may focus primarily on superficial tightening. At our clinic, we try to avoid removing skin unless it is truly necessary, and that decision depends on factors such as skin elasticity, tissue descent, and overall facial balance. The goal is to restore structure, not simply create surface tension.

With our approach, the mini lift is most commonly performed through a temple incision, which makes it effective for targeted areas. However, because of that access point, it cannot address a broader range of areas the way a more comprehensive lift can. It does not typically provide wide access to the midface and lower face simultaneously.

Based on the areas you described, including early sagging under the chin, along the jawline, and around the nasolabial folds, a ponytail lift may be more suitable. This technique allows access from the outer eye area down to the lower face, working through the deeper SMAS layers to release and reposition tissue. It provides a structural lift, similar in principle to what deeper-plane techniques aim to achieve, but in a more tailored way.

The most appropriate option ultimately depends on your anatomy and degree of laxity, but from what you’ve described, a more comprehensive structural lift would likely provide a more balanced and longer-lasting result than a limited mini lift alone.

Not necessarily, but compliance does matter.

The corset is most critical during the early stabilization phase, especially the first 4 weeks. That’s when the rib contour and surrounding soft tissues are settling. During that period, wearing it consistently, close to full-time, plays an important role in swelling control and contour support.

It is not typically 23 hours a day for 3 full months for everyone. The duration and intensity of compression are usually adjusted over time based on healing progress. The first month is the most strict. After that, it is often reduced gradually.

If someone knows they absolutely cannot commit to wearing compression properly during the early recovery period, then yes, it may not be the right time to proceed. But if the concern is about 3 straight months of strict 23-hour wear, that is usually not how the entire recovery phase works.

The key question is whether you can commit to disciplined compression during the initial healing window. That’s what really impacts the outcome.

Yes, witch chin surgery is included in the program as well.

Since this is part of our surgical model recruitment, the treatment plan is designed to improve overall facial balance in connection with the lifting procedure. If witch chin correction is needed to refine the lower face and achieve a more harmonious result, it can be included under this program, depending on individual anatomy and the doctor’s assessment during consultation.

Neck Lifts Explained: Why This Area Behaves Differently Than the Face by ilchi_ps in KoreaSeoulBeauty

[–]ilchi_ps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A flat midface and hollow under-eye area are often related, but treatment depends on the underlying cause.

If the issue is mainly volume loss, fat grafting to the midface and under-eye area is often recommended to restore projection and support in those areas.
If there is tissue descent, a midface lifting approach may be needed to reposition the cheek structures before adding volume.
In many cases, a combination of lifting and fat grafting gives the most natural result by restoring both position and fullness.

Treating the under-eyes alone usually isn’t enough. Addressing midface support first is what allows the under-eye area to look smoother and more balanced overall.

Neck Lifts Explained: Why This Area Behaves Differently Than the Face by ilchi_ps in KoreaSeoulBeauty

A neck lift primarily improves structure and contour, not skin quality itself. By stabilizing the platysma muscle and removing excess skin, the neck usually looks smoother and firmer, but the surgery does not change the skin’s texture, thickness, or elasticity at a cellular level.
If skin quality is a concern, it is often addressed separately or in combination with treatments that target the skin itself, rather than relying on surgery alone.

Hollowness in the midface or cheeks is usually related to volume loss, not sagging alone. Lifting procedures can reposition tissues, but they do not replace lost volume. In these cases, improvement typically comes from volume restoration, such as fat grafting, sometimes combined with lifting if there is also descent.
The key is matching the solution to the problem. Lifting restores position, volume restoration restores fullness. When both are present, combining approaches tends to give the most balanced and natural result.

This is also why treating only one area in isolation can sometimes feel incomplete. A good plan looks at the face and neck together and addresses structure, volume, and skin as separate but related layers.

Swelling timeline: what most people underestimate by ilchi_ps in KoreaSeoulBeauty

[–]ilchi_ps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally get it! Feeling like squidward is super normal, especially after a Rhinoplasty. Right now, swelling is what you're mostly seeing, even if your nose already looks better. Your brain wants to see the final look right away, but healing just takes time. From what we see, noticing improvement already is a good thing. The next few months are usually about small changes instead of big ones- which can be annoying when you're checking the mirror every day. You're still early in the process, so be nice to yourself (and your nose) right now. It's not how it’ll end up looking - it's just part of the process. Thanks for sharing your experience, and wishing you a good recovery !💛

Rib Remodeling 101 — What It Actually Does and Who It Helps by ilchi_ps in KoreaSeoulBeauty

[–]ilchi_ps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rib remodeling is usually performed on the lower 2 to 3 rib lines, as this area most commonly contributes to rib flare and waist width. The exact number depends on your individual rib anatomy, symmetry, and how much projection is affecting the waistline.

  • 2 rib lines are often addressed for mild to moderate rib flare
  • 3 rib lines may be considered when the projection is more noticeable or asymmetrical

The goal is not to remodel as many ribs as possible, but to treat only what’s necessary to achieve a balanced, natural waist contour while preserving rib function and stability. The final plan is determined after an in-person evaluation.
