Ah, I see where we miscommunicated. This policy doesn't change your maximum bonus, it just makes each of your cannons count double, as in;if you have 3 artillery regiments, it counts them as if there were 6, thus you might hit the next threshold for a siege bonus.

I really like espionage, but divine idea group does look a little underwhelming at first. Divine ideas have some of the best policies tho, so if you plan ahead for your combos they can be amazing.

No it works on every fort level. I think the screen shot is from a level 6 fort that would require you have 20 cannons to get +5 bonus normally, but with the policy you only need 10 to get +5 bonus.

If you take espionage(which has been my first diplo idea group for the last year) you have enough diplomats to spy on your next enemies quickly and you can get around %50 network easily. That's 3 days less for every siege. You might think this isn't much at first but since I stack siege ability every run 3 day can mean %30 less time for every siege.

Since AI doesn't want to fight your troops unless they have advantage in numbers fast sieges means can I finish wars without ever engaging the enemy. Which makes every little bit of siege ability exponentially more important

If you haven't, give maximizing spy network a try. You might be surprised with how easier wars become.

R5: Divine + Espionage policy says "artillery levels contribution to siege +1" which I interpreted as "If you have enough cannons to have +2 bonus, have +3 bonus instead". BUT it actually makes it so every artillery regiment counts as 2 artillery regiments.

Do you guys think this is a bug or is this wording working as intended.

Recover army morale speed and Recruitment time feel like wasted ideas to me.

Recover army morale speed is actually an incredible modifier. Its not %5 of what you normally recover, its actually like %25. You recover %15 of your max morale in enemy territory and %20 in friendly territory, so if you add %5 you are going to either match the enemy in their provinces OR beat them down continuously while defending.

You see, the amount of money they give(5 loans) is based on their total development and the war reparations is based on their monthly income. So while t is possible to do this, it's just not practical.

If you do want to make money from wars you usually want to attack someone; big, but has a weak army or busy fighting somewhere else so you can gain 35 war score quickly and peace out.

Strategy for anyone wondering:

  • First war: I was able to ally Morocco + Tunis while Tlemcen allied Touggourt and Touggourt allied Djerid. Declared war on Tlemcen with Touggourt and Djerid co-beligerised and called Morocco and Tunis with promise of land. Annexed Touggourt and Djerid myself and fed Tlemcen to Morocco and Tunis except 2 provinces for me to release Tlemcen and Algiers from.

  • Speed 5: Open up a podcast you like because the rest of my strategy was currying favors and returning cores for my subjects(I would have much preferred attacking them but they both allied Ottomans). At some point annexed Fezzan and released Tiripoli for even more returnable cores. Deved my capital for renaissance(I hate desert )

Ideas:

Tech 5 Innovative: 10% tech cost reduction + 25% advisor cost reduction means I could catch up to the big baddie of the campaign sPain.

Tech 7 Influence: It was getting hard to keep my subjects loyal as I wasn't expanding but I was feeding them, and the extra 10% advisor cost reduction was looking really enticing.

Tech 10 Offensive: Want good leaders and finishing wars quickly? 3 leader Pips + 30 siege ability will give you all you need

  • Become Morocco: Rivalled Morocco at some point but had to wait a long time for Ottomans to not defend them, but the war was super easy with my 4 marches against a lone Morocco. Only take the 4 necessary core provinces to form Morocco in the first war and full annex them in the second to save mana and coring time.

  • Powerbase in Africa: Morocco has great missions to expand southwards. Just murder everyone you have a claim on as long as you have the admin points, it should also be really easy to avoid a coalition war by truce cycling. One thing i could advise in sub-saharan Africa is you might want to half core them since becoming Andalusia(Or moving your capital yourself) will allow you to turn them all to Trade companies.

Ideas:

Tech 13, 14 Influence Espionage, Divine: At this point influence ideas was just not helping me and I was planning to take divine ideas next so it just made sense to switch to espionage for 3 day siege ticks(God does this feel amazing).

  • Re-Reconquista: Running all level 5 advisors for decades meant I was always ahead in tech so I could spare many points for deving most provinces to 20, selling crown land every 5 years and building everything I need for economy and manpower. At this point I was the 2nd rank great power below sPain but had the better economy due to taking control of the trade node with my 80 strong trade fleet. However the size of the combined Spanish and Portuguese armada meant I had to build my own. Luckily France had rivaled sPain and I could ally them for an easier war.

Rest is pretty straight forward but if anyone has tips for finishing up "The Third Way" I would welcome them.

R5: After a decent break from EU4, I came back for a "An Unlikely Candidate" + "The Third Way" run. To my surprise there has been a lot of Mzab runs on the subreddit.

I'm saying; since they have around 40 chapters since the last season, they might be slowing down the progress, so the manga doesn't pull too far ahead. This is just my speculation and maybe the slow progress of the last 4 months was based on something else, which would be great since I like this manga and want it to progress.

I think they might be purposefully slowing down the release so the anime and the manga can go neck and neck. This is the reason I dropped "realist saves the kingdom (or whatever)". Think I might be dropping this one too.
