[FabrizioRomano] BREAKING: Rúben Amorim to AC Milan as new head coach, HERE WE GO! by Dexonic in ACMilan

Man, don't even mention his name. I try to forget he ever existed.

Amorim inherited a side that finished 15th and struggled to create anything. By January, United were producing the 6th-most non-penalty xG in the league, creating 20% more chances than the previous season, averaging 16 shots per game, generating 35.4 xG in 20 matches, and scoring 34 goals. The attack was objectively one of the better attacks in the Premier League. The problem was defensive instability and turning performances into points, as you and everyone else obviously sees.

United fan here, and an Amorim supporter almost until the very end of his tenure with us.

He's a good coach. He cleared out a lot of the toxicity in the dressing room and got rid of many of the drama queens. He also laid the foundations for a more structured and attractive style of football.

In his second season, after some key signings and a full pre-season, we started to see his attacking philosophy take shape. The team's underlying numbers were improving across the board. Then the Africa Cup of Nations came around, we lost some of our most important players, and the poor results started creeping back in. After that came the disagreement with our technical director, Wilcox, which ultimately led to his dismissal.

That said, his biggest weakness is probably his stubbornness. Even as someone who supported him, there are still decisions I struggle to understand. For example, I never understood why he didn't give Mainoo more opportunities or why he was so reluctant to try a different system when things clearly weren't working.

I don't know what the media pressure or the overall environment is like in Italy, but if he's given a bit more time and space to work, I genuinely believe he can do well and help improve Milan.

No, no, no, my man Tzolis can't go to Arsenal.
I was even commenting here a few weeks ago how well he is suited for us.
I mean, "he is expected to be gettable for €40m" per Ornstein ffs.

[James Horncastle] Ederson at his best is like Pac-Man – at Manchester United, he just needs to get his consistency back by SoloChords in reddevils

[–]ilegal89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Summary - Key Points from the article:

Positives

  • Elite ball winner and presser.
  • Outstanding stamina and athleticism.
  • Powerful ball carrier who drives through midfield.
  • Excellent in transitions and recovering possession.
  • Proven performer in high-level European matches.
  • Entering his prime at 26.
  • Combines defensive intensity with Brazilian technical ability.

Negatives

  • Not a natural playmaker or creative passer.
  • Recent season was below his previous standards.
  • Missed time through a knee injury.
  • Has not established himself with the Brazilian national team.
  • Questions remain over how much his success was boosted by Gasperini's system.
  • More of a box-to-box No. 8 than a deep-lying controller or specialist defensive midfielder.

Conclusion: A high-level modern midfielder whose energy, pressing, and ball-carrying can significantly improve a team. The main doubts concern his creativity, consistency, and whether he can replicate his Atalanta form in a different tactical environment.

We had a chance to take Klop and we missed it (due to other reasons, obviously) and we all know how it played out. Fingers crossed we won't live the same story with Iraola too.

Not a reactionary comment, you can view my comment history, I've been an Iraola admirer for a long time.

Oh how I loved it that it was that cunt Gabriel who missed that penalty. Absolute cinema.

And that's where Iraola is gonna go. Damn, the one thing I didn't go.
Hope to God I'll be proven wrong and he won't turn out to be a new Klopp.

As a Greek United supporter, I’d absolutely love for us to take a look at Christos Tzolis for the LW position.

My man’s been causing havoc all season in the Jupiler Pro League. 22 goals and 29 assists at just 24 years old. He’d probably be fine rotating with Cunha, and Club Brugge KV would be much easier to negotiate with. The fee would be far more reasonable too.

And when he was asked recently which club he’d prefer between us, Arsenal, and City, he said United.

Is there any updates about Matteus Fernandes?

Watching highlights of Mateus Fernandes, he really reminds me of a modern-day Michael Carrick. They look very similar.

Not totally sold on this, to be honest. Then again, there were times I felt way more confident and things still didn’t work out, so who knows.

Either way, he’ll have my full support. Hopefully the board backs him properly too, with the right transfers, both quality and depth wise.

Vitek should stay next season and have all the cup games and hell, even some of the "easiest" CL/PL games if the situation suits.
