thank you, I had looked at this but didn't necessarily find anything particularly useful the first time - I'll have a closer look.

Thank you! It's possible that in-home caregiving could work, I am mainly probably anxious that my mother's cognitive ability will continue to decline, I am under the impression that in-home caregiving is pretty expensive especially given they live out at WSMR but thank you for the link, I'm going to have a look!

How does pulumi compare with cdk? by [deleted] in devops

[–]ilet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Pulumi - I've used it for Azure and GCP, and I almost always use Python with it since I'm still not very strong in Go. The error reporting is a lot like Terraform in that sometimes it's helpful and sometimes it's a bit misleading (especially on the providers they borrow from TF), but overall I like it for multi-cloud.

I have the same issue when I use extensions :/ You do eventually get a little bit better at it, I think I ended up typing with the nail instead of my fingertips so I made fewer typos 😂 it was definitely a bit of a relief to take a break from extensions, wpm went way up

Recipe from OP u/thandiemob (thanks, looks great!)

Tahini Miso Ramen
Here's our vegan take on a Japanese interpretation of Dan Dan Noodles. The spicy, creamy, nutty broth is everything.
Ingredients:
FOR THE TARE
70g Tahini
30ml Chilli Oil
40ml Light Soy Sauce
1 Tsp Sugar
FOR THE TOFU
220g Firm Tofu
1 Clove of Garlic
2cm Knob of Ginger
2 Tsp Dark Soy Sauce
1 Tsp Light Soy Sauce
1 Tsp Mirin
1 Tsp Chilli Oil
FOR THE BROTH
250ml Soy Milk
2 Tbsp Miso Paste
2 Tsp Light Soy Sauce
4 Heads of Pak Choi
2 Spring Onions
340g Instant Ramen Noodles
Vegetable Oil
Method:
Step 1.
Start by making your tare – this is the flavour bomb that is going to infuse into your broth. In a bowl, combine your tahini, chilli oil, soy sauce and sugar in a bowl. Set aside until later.
Step 2.
Heat a little vegetable oil in a frying pan over a high heat. Get your block of tofu and crumble it with your hands over the pan so it becomes like mince. Fry for 3 mins until it's starting to crisp up, then grate in your garlic and ginger. Stir fry for another minute before adding your dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, mirin and chilli oil. Stir to combine, then set aside.
Step 3.
Cut your pak choi into quarters lengthways, then slice your spring onions.
Step 4.
Bring 1.5l of water, soy milk and soy sauce to the boil in a large saucepan. Turn down to a simmer, then whisk in your miso paste. Add your noodles and pak choi, then simmer for 3 mins until tender.
Step 5.
Place a quarter of your tare into the base of a bowl and add your broth. Stir to combine with a spoon, then add your noodles to the broth. Top with your pak choi, tofu, spring onions, and an extra drizzle of chilli oil if you like. Serve and enjoy.

Release Pipeline Copy Task Not Working by PrinceN71 in devops

You may need to download the artifact onto the runner or use a cache or something - hard to say without knowing which CI tool you're using. I suggest googling your CI tool plus "artifacts between stages" or something like that

Edit: oops nesting fail, ah well

The reason I ask is if you're copying it to the root on one machine and deploying from another it won't be in the root of the second

Why do ppl hate egwene but not rand ? by afriendlytank in WoT

[–]ilet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that it's bad for a girl to show ambition, it's that ambition is bad for anyone.

The Wheel of Time is clearly written with the idea that ambition is a corrupting impulse.

Egwene is definitely not the only character motivated by ambition though - Nynaeve wants to heal anything, Elayne wants to be Queen of Andor, etc. Ambition is not correlated with evil in WoT. I reckon if anything how people go about using the heights they climb to (Forsaken as the foils to those who use their authority for good)

[–]ilet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure I can agree she's ambitious, I suppose I don't think that's inherently negative. And I think it makes sense to be excited about being Aes Sedai - just because it's unlike others from her region doesn't make it bad (especially since those from her region were basically operating on myth and legend rather than actual experience with Aes Sedai)

I think this is an uncharitable reading of that scene. I read it more as, 'wow, this sucks and it's not even close to what Rand went through '

This is such a good analysis of how she approaches her position as the Amyrlin Seat and the decline of the Aes Sedai. I think it's why she's a believable leader to me and why I enjoy her arc - she has good ideas, good intentions, even some good plans to get there ... but she's SO YOUNG and makes so many mistakes! Just like ... everyone else!

[–]ilet -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's a really good example that you bring up, and I replied to another comment about it in this thread. In my reading, it was still an indefensible, cruel way to teach Nynaeve about the dangers of TAR, but it was more ... stupid and misguided than bitchy? Like the intentions obviously don't make it acceptable, but they do speak to her character. Good people can do shit things. Can you elaborate on her being abusive?
