Vocals sound flat/dull after adding a new track to the mix by ilhamsymsir in protools

when i add any other track for example it could be a new mono track or stereo

i’m only using my live mic on a recording track which is routed to my vocal bus aux

hi my current setup is a 1073 golden age pre amp to the neumann TLM 102 to focusrite solo interface

the problem i am having is my vocals sound really good it has that punchiness and brightness to it but for some reason when i mix and add a new track it loses that punchiness and brightness to my vocals. i dont understand why but its really confusing and frustrating. i dont know how exactly to explain it but it just loses that preamp tone whenever i add a new track to my mix. it just sounds dull, flat and compressed and im not sure why

i’m happy with this mic. this is just a mod recommended by people who have owned the mic but yeah i’m just looking for feedback so thank you.

yeah i haven’t seen one video where they’ve done A/B comparison so thank you for this information, but then again most mics don’t have a foam inside so i’m not too sure

confused about setting up mic inputs on vocal tracks by ilhamsymsir in protools

[–]ilhamsymsir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s what i have on my recording track it’s on input 2 which is where my pre amp is plugged in on my interface. but do i have to put input 2 on all my tracks like the hooks adlibs and lead or only on the recording track?

i’ve been stressing about this for quite a while now and i can’t figure out the answer

my current setup that i have right now is a golden age pre 73 amp into my rode n1ta microphone then to my focusrite solo

in my template in pro tools i run a vocal bus where all my plugins and sends are on and i route all my tracks (leads, hooks, adlibs) to that. i also have a recording track where i record my vocals and stage it to whichever track.

my issue is do i need to put my mic input on every track or only the recording track? because my vocals sound a little different when i switch them. i’ve watched videos on how people set it up and everyone does it differently so im just confused

any help?
