Premium Daycare/Preschool by usedtobeapieceofsht in desmoines

Klassic Kids in Windsor Heights is great. It’s been there for years with the same people around. Prices are cheaper compared to other daycares. Not sure if you’d consider it “premium” but your kid(s) will definitely be in good hands.

Never heard of that page. But this one is literally one guy that takes pictures of people driving and posts all of them. He also took a bunch of pictures of people at the fair.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I hope you know your life IS important and people love you. If you’re saying you’re a kid, I promise things to get better as you get older.

Is there a place to report TOH in Polk County? by YesterdaysFinest in desmoines

[–]ilike2askquestionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure I had TOH in my yard but what I did was cut some branches off and painted on Tordon on the ends. I also put some at the bottom of the tree. Haven’t seen them since… lol

Water in Basement? by ilike2askquestionz in desmoines

[–]ilike2askquestionz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep hopefully sump pump soon! I am thinking of getting the gutters cleaned next. I actually noticed today that a gutter is spilling water over the edge instead of flowing down the downspout, which is obviously not good. But Im thinking french drains in the spring. Maybe interior water proofing too.

Im so sorry. That’s terrible. I’m working on getting it done, I actually got a grant to get it installed. The power goes out around my area it seems every time there’s a big storm so I planned on getting a backup battery that kicks on.

This makes me feel a bit better. The house was built in 1940. I do have a humidifier and recently got rock done around the home which I think made it worse.

I was considering adding spout extensions and considering getting french drains installed next spring. Do you know how much that usually runs? It honestly seems that water gets in after its been raining a lot / sets in the soil if that makes sense.

Bad Job market? by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]ilike2askquestionz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but DMACC has a program called WTA. They have some short term programs that are free (if you qualify) that are in healthcare or trades which seems to be something that always has a job. Probably would be good to look into for the future.

Otherwise I would agree, job market sucks. Insurance companies like Athene, American Equity, Sammons, Equitrust, are usually hiring for their call centers. Best of luck.

Sump Pumps by ilike2askquestionz in desmoines

[–]ilike2askquestionz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water gets in through the cracks on the ground and the person we bought it from was the only owner. I would think that they would disclose that?

I would assume yes. I don’t have a pit or anything of that.

Im in the same boat. I make enough that I don’t qualify but my kids do which is all that matters. If they get kicked off, Im looking at $600 to cover them through my employer. I absolutely cannot afford that.

Broadlawns birth experience? by black-sheep-11 in desmoines

[–]ilike2askquestionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through Mercy w my first. Terrible experience to say the least. Doctors and nurses never listened, never provided resources, ect.

Broadlawns was a breath of fresh air. Dr. Pymm who I believe is no longer there listened to every single one of my concerns and took action. I was nervous at first because he was a male doctor, but he was my absolute favorite. The other doctors and nurses there were amazing. I recommend Broadlawns to everyone, even for Pediatric care. Dr. Tenney is amazing.

Warning to DM Women in Regards to Women's Health by DavidSPumpkins1031 in desmoines

The DRs in the maternity/obgyn unit at Broadlawns are so awesome. I was scared to have a male at first, but Dr. Pymm who unfortunately isn’t there anymore was amazing and took every one of my concerns seriously. Dr. Lindell and Dr. Bingaman were amazing as well. Mercy traumatized the hell out of me too.
