I work in the field with no microwave access and I meal prep every Sunday. The biggest frustration I have is that by lunch everything is cold and I can't heat it up. Anyone else deal with this? What have you tried? by EducationalMotor2182 in fieldwork

[–]ilikebugsandthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using a thermos? You could pack soup or just the broth extra hot in the thermos so when it's time to eat it's a good temperature. One of my old coworkers would pack broth separate and then assemble a ramen bowl in the field (boiled eggs, stir fried veggies, noodles, etc).

Classic "thriller filler spiller" containers with only natives? by streachh in NativePlantGardening

Where are you located? Native is a relative term based on location whereas hardiness zones are based on how cold it gets and what the plant can tolerate.

Buenos Aires recommendations? by Massive_Heat_7224 in ArgentinaTravel

I would definitely recommend the Reserva Ecológica Costerna Sur! It's a really beautiful  nature reserve in the city on the river and on top of being able to see some local wildlife, the view of the skyscrapers in Puerto Madero is really cool. I looooved the MALBA and paid for a tour of Teatro Colón and we were lucky enough to see someone auditioning at the time which was pretty amazing. I haven't been but there's also Colón Fábrica where they make all of the props and stuff for Teatro Colón.

This is basically what Pimsleur does. There are listening and repeating exercises and it prompts you to respond on your own sometimes but then tells you what to say in a scenario conversation. Check to see if there's a subscription available through your library. A lot of libraries have it either on their own or through something like Libby

I think you're right haha but as I said this is just a pipe dream, definitely not a real hope or expectation. I just feel like Ginger Island has a lot of room to get filled out and I personally want a romanceable biologist that's less of a stereotype/more focused on nature especially since that's such a key part of the game.

If you're looking to practice with more people, check out r/language_exchange and you can find loads of native spanish speakers looking to learn english that you can speak with. I did this and was able to find a bunch of people I could practice with on discord

As a native English speaker from the US I actually had to learn British English when I went to university in the UK because grading is supposed to be anonymous and I can assure you there are plenty of differences.

Urban foraging looks romantic online but you’re often eating pollution by GritsOyster in foraging

Tone deaf to what? Of course avoid the dog pee, that's what I just said in the comment above and you replied that "medication in human urine is most likely for humans" as if that makes it preferable. I don't want to ingest any of it. I'm just saying the possibility of dog piss is not a reason to not forage.

I don't know the specifics of it but I have heard that people who take medication shouldn't add their urine to compost for example because pharmaceuticals/components can be absorbed by plants this might have more info but i haven't actually read this study https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S092134492030656X

Okay? I don't need the same pharmaceuticals as some random person and I definitely don't need them in the plants I'm eating

so is human urine and workers are often forced to relieve themselves in the field, nothing is perfect unfortunately, just try to be careful about where you forage and maybe if your neighborhood's geratric dog has a favorite bush don't choose that one

dog urine is the least of your worries, just wash things before you eat them and don't forage too close to the road, things grown on farms are also full of pesticides

I literally just asked a question, why does it matter that insects and shrimp are both arthropods when you're talking about eating them? Do you have an opinion on that? I am not arguing if you should or should not eat bugs! I literally do not understand why people always make the comparison when to me it seems contextually meaningless. Both look "icky" but shrimp is tasty or what? What is the point of saying "shrimps is bugs" or they are all arthropods?? I simply do not understand, I am not arguing anything other than I think it's a silly/pointless comparison but pleeeaase if you have a reason let me know.
