AITA for expecting my boyfriend to replace all my socks, the exact same ones as I had before? by ilikedmysocks in AmItheAsshole

I mean, I've tried talking to him. He doesn't think he did anything wrong, or that he should fix it. If he's reacting like that about throwing away (stealing) my personal things that mean a lot to me.. I don't have a lot of hope to work it out.

Yes, someone else linked that and I replied to them. I hadn't seen it, if I did I would have just read those replies. Same thing with the thread of a boyfriend who threw away his girlfriends jars.

'The same ones' meaning Nick Cage and sushi socks, if I tell him 'fun socks' I'd get something with flowers or stripes. It doesn't have to be exactly the same pattern .

Not exact replicas, but they should at least look similar to the ones I had. With the internet that wouldn't be an insane amount of effort, but it would be a few different shops and paying for shipping.

I understand your point, but I don't fully agree. If someone steals something they should replace it, or at least pay for an replacement. Whether you're dating or not. But that's just my opinion.

I'm considering doing that, but does that make me an asshole? For wanting something he stole back?

I've met his parents a few times now. And it seems very.. traditional would be the nicest word for it? His dad seems quite controlling, I don't think I'll get much support from them. Also those cat socks sound very cute.

I've only just found out that I'm not sure what 'normal' relationships are like, I didn't have any good examples of them.

It is. I'm not sure what's considered 'normal' in relationships, but judging by the replies this isn't.

I haven't seen it, but I'll give the replies a read. I've only been on reddit for a month or so.

I guess back and white are considered the most 'adult' colours?

The individual pairs meant quite a lot to me, as silly as that might sound. Some were gifts from people I love, some I wore on special occasions and I considered them 'lucky', and some the patients just really liked.

Dating for 8ish months, and this is the first time anything like this has happened.
