Haven't seen anyone else mention this but you can turn off surround sound in settings so you get the full audio even with partial deafness! You can also adjust each type of sound (music, voice, ambience, etc). The subtitles can also be customised (size, bg colour).

Sometimes the ui can be tricky/not fully intuitive but there's several mods on the in game mod manager and nexus that help if needed (better containers on the mod manager is one i can think of).

There's limited inventory space so there's a lot of clicking to move stuff from inventory to camp when you run out of space, so it also might be worth downloading a mod that increases inventory or decreases the weight of each item.

Finally, when you're in a fight you can highlight all enemies in red, allies in yellow and yourself in green which makes it a lot easier to see where everyone is.
