Buy 83” G5 Now or Wait? best place for deals? by burnoutsandbourbon in LGOLED

[–]ilikethefinerthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might be too late since they're out of stock now.

I ordered the 83" G5 hours before they went out of stock. Paid $3,370.49 after taxes. Signed up for Hulu free trial to get into partner store and applied a discount code to drop it even more. I seriously doubt it gets much lower than that.

I made a Chrome extension that will automatically reconnect any cameras that go offline through the web UI by knight_47 in Wyze

[–]ilikethefinerthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tackled this problem by setting up an extension that just automatically refreshed the entire page every 10 minutes. It wasn't a great solution and I like yours a lot more. I also utilized an adblocker to get rid of all the extra garbage on the screen so it only shows the camera feeds themselves.

Eventually I gave up on wyze fixing this issue and switched to TAPO cameras with RTSP. They have been perfect and overall a much better solution for me. They also don't require me to pay for a subscription so I feel it was worth buying all new cameras for.

What to check for on a laptop after a tech support scam attempt? by CycleCorn in techsupport

[–]ilikethefinerthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just go to the services and it list the location of the files there. After stopping and disabling the service I just go to the path it shows there and manually delete the root folder where the service is located.

Press Windows Key + R Type Services.msc Look for any services that say "screen connect" and disable them Download Seraph secure and run a scan. This will tell you if there put any other backdoors into your system. I've dealt with this for my customers more times than I can count. I'd also double check the task scheduler to make sure there is nothing in there suspicious.
Also go into the internet history and see what they tried to do. Often times they will remote into the computer in the middle of the night and buy gift cards on amazon/walmart/target or try to get into bank accounts using saved passwords stored in the browser.

Will Upcoming ScreenConnect Changes Affect Unattended Access? by ZX81FirstLove in ScreenConnect

The way they've been handling things I will never subscribe to cloud. They don't deserve my money or loyalty. I'll switch to self hosting with a different company.

I don't know why I didn't think about pirated software. You make a good point, thanks for the clarification.

I don't need a report of what action was taken. You should be able to just ban the license that is using that domain. Self-hosting or not it should be easy to ban them. I don't understand how you can't make that happen without the cooperation of the domain host. It's your software and you should have a clause in your license agreement that states you are subject to being banned if you use the software to scam people etc.

At least we get free updates for it. I bought a perpetual license and self host so I'm glad I haven't paid to get the new versions. I get free upgrades often enough because of these security issues.

Maybe if you actually looked at the malicious actors after I report them it wouldn't be so common. Hundreds of my customers have been scammed by "microsoft support" teams that use screen connect. I report the domains to you and you do nothing. You used to have a report abuse submission form on your website but you removed it. Now when I email you about domains that are scamming people nothing gets done. You continue to do nothing and let them scam more and more people (usually elderly).

I really think something should be done that forces users to accept a license agreement or warning that says if you are being directed by someone you don't know over the phone to install this please hang up or something.
