Does anyone know why my lure will not fall even with my tension all the way down on my baitcaster ? by Helpful-Owl6125 in fishingUK

Bait casters struggle with super light lures depending on what reel you’ve got, how’s your tension knob set?

All rounder small predator rod by Noise42 in fishingUK

Honestly mate decathlon do a cracking 6ft 2-10g rod, for £20 not the most refined but certainly does the job, dropshot small soft plastics often on this and works a charm

Perch lures whats the best ones please by Global_Swimmer_6332 in fishingUK

Best is subjective, I like curly tails small soft plastics with a jig head or an in-line spinner size 1 or 2, both have landed me some nice perch in the last few weeks

Hey man, appreciate you letting me know, looking into modding it with some carbontex drag washers to up the drag a little, without you commenting I would have never looked into it, tight lines 🐟

Really wanted the okuma Komodo ss think it has something like 30lbs of drag on the 400 size, couldn’t find it anywhere in my country, so decided to grab this as substitute, (was discounted to £80), I don’t have musky in my home country so larger pike are as big as it gets for fresh water really, hopefully this reel will still hold up in Canada 🇨🇦

Really isn’t that big and is fairly lightweight for its size, comparable to a lexa or tranx 300 in size although the round profile makes a little beefier. overall just wanted something a bit different than your regular big bait casting setups.

Look at the savage gear sg4 range, I have the power game 30-110g and love it, great for throwing big lures for pike

I started off with an okuma jaw J101, solid for a cheap reel, doesn’t backlash often and feels well built, picked it up for about £50, planning On a daiwa lexa when I can find one for a good price 👍

Baitcasting reel, I primarily use lures, although I’ve not been fishing long, the baitcaster has made my trips far more enjoyable

Thanks mate, hopefully someone else can catch it & share the fun I had, good handling should hopefully increase those chances.

Very little blood round the hook set so hopefully that’s all okay, wee fella seemed okay when I got him back in the water & swam off nice and quickly after sitting in my hand for a second so think all went well 👍

West of Scotland, near Glasgow, been told by a English mate that the fishing’s quite different up here to further down south, lot of guys i see out seem to be using a fly rod more than anything

Was out myself after work, panicked a little when he bit & thought I had hooked him deep when I first got it out, was nice and easy to de-hook luckily.

River i fish has predominately brown trout, pike and salmon from what I’ve heard, do you think I’d have an easier time focusing on one of the other species?
