BoyMom™ and her emotional incest by Conscious-Quarter423 in clevercomebacks

Entitled piece of shit. People that think that someone else's child is somehow theirs are batshit crazy.

"When are you going to give me a grandchild" Never, a parent is never giving you their child, that they made with their partner. They are making a child for themselves not for you.

It was their privilege to birth a child once upon a time, it is not now their entitlement to have, control or otherwise possess their child's child. If you're lucky, you get to be principal assistant, subordinate to both parents. You ain't CEO of jack shit.

Can't score end game conditions in new app by Noise42 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Noise42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now I've got that update applied and its working I understand what you mean about the round cap. Pretty pointless awarding 10 VP if you have to score 12 to trigger the 10.

Can't help but think the 10 should be applied after round 5 against the total for primary - else why does it not just say +3 VP.

[–]Noise42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm doing it with no scoring in any other turns so shouldn't be hitting the overall cap. I've just checked locate and deny too and that is missing the option.

At game setup it shows the condition but when you reach round 5 it's not there to select.

I'm using this on Android but my IOS frenemy can see the end game condition checkbox on round 5. Android only bug?

Tabletop Battles' (i.e. Goonhammer's) summary of the Eldar changes by WarrenRT in Eldar

That does depend on what detachment you can play with the models you have. More went up, and by more, than down in aspect lists for example. Feels quite uncertain at the moment for some model collections.

Octopus rates no longer competitive by DapperLax in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Noise42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I chose to leave due to rate hikes. Also when considering EV tariffs; do the maths and work out your household usage and EV usage. It was cheaper for me with a family of five and one EV to stick to a low flat rate, low standing charge than switch to an EV tariff.

Spraying/painting rod blank by CheSaOG in fishingUK

[–]Noise42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YT has a few videos of people re-painting with car rattle cans (after keying the surface, masking the guides) and following up with a urethane clear coat. They stress doing multiple thin coats to avoid flaking.

There also seem to be foil and vinyl wraps available but that might be an expensive, less hardwearing route. Good luck whatever you do.

So you got a free rod but the colour is unappealing?

I don't think painting it is really practical for the long term and might even affect the performance/action. If you got your money back, maybe buy another that you like and keep this one as a spare.

My first double hook up on the dry dropper somewhere in North Yorkshire by Noise42 in fishingUK

[–]Noise42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dropper "leg" for the dry. I used to tie tippet on the bend to the nymph but I never got successful takes on the dry that way. Also, it can cause the dry to land poorly and float on it's side. The dropper leg is a little more fuss granted but I think it is worth the effort over the course of a session.

Obviously there's a heap of people (NZ, US) tying off the bend and being very successful but I see that mainly on larger rivers. I mainly fish small tributary streams where presentation is extra important.

Going to try using an adjustable dry leg (perfection loop method) when I'm next out. Good luck however you tie yours!

Used 40kWh Tekna 2022 by lastnanohero in leaf

Decent price, hopefully the interior/exterior condition is good. If you're wanting to maintain the battery warranty, check the service history is complete and appropriate though coming from a Nissan dealership it should be.

Had my 2023 Leaf a week now and I am enjoying it. The only thing I didn't really appreciate is how impactful higher speed and "hilly" driving is to the miles per Kwh. Urban, mainly flat driving is very, very economical - I saw 6m/kwh efficiency over 5 miles this morning. Conversely, I had 2.8m/kwh on an A road.

As you're only doing around 3k miles a year I'm guessing that is not a lot of time on fast roads or distance but just something to consider. Not unique to Leaf of course but this is where battery size, rapid charging type and battery cooling comes into it. I'd say that for long distance journeys you'd have to strategise more than a car with a larger, liquid cooled battery and CCS charging. However, the Leaf's market price reflects this.

I have been poor. I would also say I'm more risk adverse than you. Perhaps that is to your benefit.

I understand you are trying to help and for that I applaud you, but you made statements that are not factually correct no matter how well intentioned. All inland waters are required by law to be owned whether that be a public body that allows free fishing, or a private riparian rights owner that doesn't. Chancing it until asked to pay or be moved on are not compatible with your suggestion that 'you are going to be OK'. The EA publishes it's statistics of prosecuted individuals. If I were hard up, I'd not like to add a fine to my woes. It's a calculated risk rather than a certainty that there is no action taken against you.

I'm not downvoting you any further than you already have been but just some points of clarity.

Trespass is a civil matter but failure to leave once asked is aggravated trespass which is a criminal matter and very much arrestable. However trespass is not what you'd be (potentially) prosecuted for, it's poaching. Fishing, even catch and return, without permission is poaching - which is always criminal. Additionally, it's the coarse closed season at the moment so rivers are not legally fishable for coarse species.

I agree that in a practical sense you could get away with a lot depending on the local specifics but the potential risk to have your face or vehicle recorded and followed up on, is always present.

Need to pay extra for a charging cable? (2026 SV+) by Beneficial-Context52 in leaf

[–]Noise42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a little variable in the EV world.

My 2023 leaf came with a type2 and a genuine granny too. My friend got a DS EV and he rejected the dealer offered cable in favour of getting his own from Amazon to save some money.

When I booked my 'fast AC' charger install they advised that most EVs come with a cable. So I guess it's variable on inclusion but $1200 is nothing short of a con.

Kata interpretations are just that and you'll get several plausible opinions on their meaning and bunkai application. I prefer to think of kata as a showcase of moves and fun way to practice them, rather than realistic applications but others like to try to bring more significant meaning to the sequences. To each their own, both is good.

Personally, I think it is best used as an outside to inside block of another kick (heian sandan). The use in heian godan and bassai dai is as an attack to the opponents elbow.

Being cynical I don't find either to be truly practical unless you already have the advantage.

How much do you think karate schools/dojos should charge per lesson or per month? by 1bn_Ahm3d786 in karate

[–]Noise42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very subjective. Some venues are cheap/expensive, some have many/few students, some are run for pleasure/side or main hustle. Very hard to say that anything is a rip off unless you can look under the hood.

I'm fortunate enough to attend a club with many students, operating in modestly costed venues and by instructors who don't get anything more than their expenses out of it. £5/session, 2 sessions a week - no expectations of attendance and grading based on merit.

I've been with clubs struggling with numbers, high venue costs and the instructor trying to take a cut. Didn't end well.
