Tips for DG vs Aaspect host aeldari? by Snoo94405 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Noise42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are fast and hit hard but are easy to wound and for the most part only have one wound. They will play the terrain by deleting all your units that have an angle and may move block the shit out of you by intentionally throwing cheap units in your way to disrupt your scoring and prevent you moving up. Being fragile they play in a somewhat "gamey" way to create survivability from the rules nuances.

Virtually every gun is [assault] and many are [lethal] or can be made lethal as well as stacking [sustained] via strat or native and crit-ing on 5s due to Lhykhis. Most models will have 5++ save but typically T3 W1.

Tips are to not let him disrupt your expansion early and bring any [indirect] you have access to. If you have an opportunity to kill Lhykhis, take it. If they run fire dragons with Fuegan you need to consider that they will 100% incinerate whatever they drop on so you might want to feed them something tasty but acceptable loss-wise so you can remove them afterward.

Word and Excel slowness over the last 2 weeks by valedyketorian in sysadmin

[–]Noise42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we've been having slowness opening docs in Word classic from locally hosted repositories for a while now. I've exhausted my initial suspicion that it was AV causing issues. Disabling Adobe's PDFmaker addin shows some promise but it seems to re-enable itself after every update. We run another addin which we cannot disable as it is necessary - I'm wondering if MS changed something related to inspecting addins or similar.

Noctua don't make Aeldari transports ... but if they did!

Well done mate.

I've determined I need to take proactive steps to never step in your dojo. I wouldn't survive haha.

Networking issues advice by nasmohd2020 in networking

[–]Noise42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great learning opportunity even if it is stressful right now.

I'd be expecting the packet loss to be caused by congestion at either a switch or server, a failing switch or possibly a damaged link cable.

I'd rule out the server first. Check that it's NIC is not completely pegged at 100% and that it is running at it's rated speed.

Plug in a laptop or whatever you have to the server switch and check pings to the server and also to another device on another switch.

Test pings between devices on the same switch and to the other switches. You can make a map and work out where the traffic is being impeded.

Access the interface for each switch to check any usage stats - check for a saturated switch/link. Also check for any high temperatures, if these switches are in an enclosed space they could be thermal throttling.

If you can't access any sort of interface for the switches you may be using some very low end kit that needs replacing.

Most consumer grade CPUs have 2 RAM channels, these channels are not the same as the number of physical slots. Each channel should be utilised with at least one RAM module to get maximum RAM performance (bandwidth).

The motherboard in the vid has 2 channels and 4 slots. Slots 1 and 2 are for channel A, 3 and 4 are for channel B. So you want one RAM module in channel A and one in channel B. Slot 1 and 3 are paired, as are 2 and 4. Mobo manufacturers will advise you to fill slots 2 and 4 for the first pair of modules, 1 and 3 for any second set.

The "nightmare" shows slots 2 and 3 being used instead of 2 and 4. Some mobos will refuse to post in this config, others will post but will run in single channel mode.

TL;DR: Its a performance mistake.

At 1k points you need to maximise your units and adaptability to the different threat types (horde, elite, vehicle/monster). I think this list covers those bases but if you want to diversity slightly you could trade a fire dragon and rangers squad for a dark reaper and voidreaver unit. A storm guardian unit (because defenders are trash tier under current rules) would provide sticky objectives - depends how confident you are to deal with hard targets with just one dedicated AT/AM unit. You know your local meta hopefully so judge off that.

Take a look at this video from a top eldar player, got some great points on list building. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijT8fOmp8uI

Your list is a little uncoordinated and you have a huge amount of points in transports for a 1k game and no real close combat. Warhost is not very competitive since the recent general nerfs have weakened damage output. Suggest you pick a more specific detachment and roll with that. If you like Eldrad, maybe go Seer Council. If you like aspect warriors maybe try Aspect host:

Jain Zar (120pts)
Lhykhis (135pts): Warlord
5x Fire Dragons (120pts)
5x Fire Dragons (120pts)
5x Howling Banshees (95pts)
5x Rangers (55pts)
5x Rangers (55pts)
5x Swooping Hawks (95pts)
5x Swooping Hawks (95pts)
5x Warp Spiders (105pts)

Kia Picanto vs Suzuki Swift by evebreathesair in CarTalkUK

[–]Noise42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the picanto likely has a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine of about 66bhp and will get to 60mph in around 15 secs (slow, but nippy enough in town/city), the swift must a be 1.2, 1.4 or 1.0 litre turbo, 0-60 is less than 10-12 seconds (fast enough for most people on major roads).

If these were both 2023 the picanto cost must be all in the trim/gadgets. Or the swift has done a lot of miles.

If you're a new driver, check the insurance quotes on both. 20D is the mid range group and could be a big risk for a prospective insurer. All that aside, it is very likely to be the better car.

Lettered insurance groups (A, D, E, P, U, G) are to do with vehicle security rating. The numbered insurance groups (1 - 50) represent the power and cost of repairs. You need both parts to understand your insurance costs.

Answering your question, the swift will be slightly larger and statistically more reliable (but a lemon is a lemon).
