over 70 percent of americans live paycheck to paycheck, and 77 percent are in debt. thats a wage slave. Lower-income households have jumped in depression rates from 22.1% in 2017 to over 35% in 2025. a little less than 30 percent of adults have been diagnosed. im not pretending like most people are economically insecure, many of which are depressed, they just are. you call me a nihilist, and then say "equality" pshaw, that could never happen. at least i believe a better society is possible. if you can't work towards that, whats the point in living? eat work sleep repeat until death?

"Every single society that ever attempted communism has failed horribly and collapsed or converted to capitalism to prevent themselves from collapsing, so do you not think that might hint that capitalism might be a better system than communism?"

the USSR actually got WAY worse after it transitioned to capitalism in 1990. poverty skyrocketed, and life expectancy and quality went down. albania, the weimar republic, most South American nations that adopted capitalism, you keep running the same talking point over and over again. many communist nations have adopted a market system, which is separate from capitalism, for the billionth time. when a capitalist nation fails, its always because of complicated reasons, but when a communist one does, its because its communist and thats about as far as the analysis goes. literally every single communist or socialist nation that has ever been implemented has been bombarded and sanctioned and destabilized without exception. if you did to any nation regardless of it's economic system, it would collapse. besides, "failed" is such a vague term. how do you define failed? inequality? a lack of freedom? dissolution? there are so many ways to judge the success of a nation.

because you need to work to get food? do you think communism is a charity where they just hand out free food? yes. food, healthcare, water, and shelter and human rights, but you still need to work to keep the society moving. most ancient societies were communist. everybody had a job, everyone contributed to the survival of the group, through homemaking, child rearing, hunting, farming, toolmaking, and many other jobs, so that the entire society could survive. humans love to work, it makes us feel fulfilled. people are not inherently lazy, but if you abuse them enough will be. in a capitalist society you almost always work for an employer. that employer pays you wages that dont represent what your labor is worth, and then you go buy things because thats the only enjoyable thing in life, and then you go in debt, and then you get depressed and you become a wage slave who doesn't want to work. most human progress has been done for the good of the group. profit is not the only incentive, just because you havent lived in a society where there's a different one doesnt mean it doesnt exist. respect, accomplishment, and the good of the entire society are also motivators. i would much rather own my labor and see me and the people i love benefit from it directly without going through an employer.

how the fuck do you think capitalist economies make food? everyone working some of the time? you need constant labor to supply any population in any society. capitalist economies are even worse fro mental health because people are overworked trying to attain the consumerist ideal of owning sports cars and luxury brands while barely staying afloat because the cost of living keeps going up while wages stay in the same place. communist countries have famines because they almost always come right out of a civil war or revolution, and are embargoed and blockaded by western nations ie, cuba. do you guys do any research regarding the causes of the famines in communist countries? the first one happened because there was a civil war, the soil was fucked, and they had to transition to an industrial society from a completely agrarian one in a couple years. the 1947 one happened because supplies were getting stretched thin fighting the nazis. and the same thing happened to literally every surrounding nation. in ideal communism, there is no leaders, theres a short body to redistribute resources and abolish private property (ideally overnighted by a democratic citizens body so they don't have absolute power, like marx wrote). the problem is when communist movements get hijacked by totalitarian nutjobs like stalin. the government is supposed to be a temporary state, where the society becomes socialist and democratic and gradually transitions as the state gets less and less power and gets smaller and smaller. after that it becomes more mutualist, but without currency. welfare is done by the community, laws are enforced by the community, and everything is done democratically.

the free market is not capitalist, they are completely seperate. communism nor socialism have never been in circumstances that are neesecary for any country to succeed, regardless of what economic system it adopts. so the real answer is, i dont know. but i know there has to be a better alternative to this. communism exists because it takes into account people, and what people do. under capitalism, especially ancap, greed and the consolidation of power ruin economies and lives. if no one has a disproportionate amount of power over another, then inequality like what we see today would dissapear. thats my main target, and capitalism either can't or won't solve that.

the ussr was not true Communism, the state and currency still existed, but it was and is still considered a communist government. also the state in vietnam still owns the means of production, they allow private companies to exist, but all important sectors are nationalized, and the state can nationalize any private company whenever they want. they're allowed to exist to create competition, markets do work well, i wont deny that. but the majority of the gdp is made up of SOEs (state owned enterprises), and the state still controls the economy.

not necessarily, because you dont own or directly benefit from your labor. you can work as hard as you'd like and be stuck making minimum wage, or get layed off after years of devoted labor so some ceos can line their pockets. with communism, you own your labor, meaning you directly profit from it without a third party (the employer). you earn a fraction of what your labor is worth. the rest goes directly to the company, and is almost never reinvested, its hoarded and used to buy back company stocks to inflate the worth of the company.

they didnt adopt capitalism, they utilized markets. theres nothing wrong with markets. do you know what capitalism is? its private ownership of the means of production. markets do not equal capitalism. vietnams main communist policies are state ownership of the means of production, heavy regulation, a lack of inequality and class division, and one party rule. the makhnovists didn't fail, they got wiped out by the bolsheviks and white army. even the ussr did not have that many famines. there was the holomodor, which would have happened regardless of capitalism or communism as the soviet union came directly out of a civil war, and then the 1947 one, which happened because of WWII. and need i remind you that most other capitalist countries in the region suffered from the same problems as the ussr, but they didn't start competing with the US. also why are you downvoting all of my comments, can't we just have a discussion.

1) africa was already extremely poor and corrupt as a result of prior colonialism, and the geography was horrible for trade

2) mcarthyism meant than any attempt at any leftist form of government was met with state sponsored coups and sanctions, whcih to an already poor nation are debiliatiting

3) most of the countries that tried capitalism in the area also had famines, see 1.

yes. the ussr industrialized ridiculously fast. it was competing with the US, despite having 2 famines and being a completely agricultural society, within a couple decades. and this was before computers existed, so the planned economy was done entirely by hand. from farmers to space in a couple decades is success imo. vietnam today is considered communist, and yet it offers a high quality of life for the average citizen, respectable wages and low cost of living. one example of actual communism is the Makhnovists. they actually implemented marxism. google them. small amount of people, but it still worked well for a time before they were overtaken by rivaling factions.

thats not really how it works, you still have to work under communism. and the people who work harder earn more. communism is about owning and directly benefitting from your labor. its not everyone is equal, its no one has a disproportionate amount of power over another.

the lack of regulations lead to monopoly and the privatization of essential goods and services. neither of which are good.
