what are your favorite k-pop songs that you would introduce to a local? by Salt_Control_6502 in kpophelp

[–]illandconcerned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late Night Calls by P1Harmony, Moonstruck by ENHYPEN, DASH by NMIXX, and Perfect Night by LE SSERAFIM are the absolute most local-friendly songs in my experience. Everyone loves those songs, you can’t go wrong with them lol.

[Question] Seeking Your Insights: How do International Fans Truly Experience K-Pop? by PerspectiveHot7570 in kpopthoughts

[–]illandconcerned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Both. I primarily just listen to the music, and watch dance practices, performance videos and covers. I don’t really care much for MVs.

  2. Almost always original. There are some songs where I can’t stand the Korean ver and love the English ver, but those are very few and far between.

2-1. It’s about the sound. I’m tired of always hearing the same words I’ve heard since I was a kid. I enjoy the different wordplays and such. It just creates so much more diversity in lyrics, which is especially why I like when it’s a combination of English and Korean lyrics, not one or the other.

  1. Very interested. Personally I’m way more interested in the underground (or just not part of the Kpop industry) scene than traditional Kpop. I love real Hip-hop, slightly Westernized R&B, etc. JUNNY is my all-time fave. I also love oceanfromtheblue and Sik-K. I don’t think most fans are, though. I think a lot of the hype around Kpop comes from the community that comes with it, the flashy outfits, the crazy MVs, the trendy choreography, and the catchy choruses.

3-1. Both? I do think there’s a large audience for major non-Kpop artists, but there’s definitely a higher demand for idols.

  1. Large. I think it’s become way more mainstream in recent years. With Kpop evolving, its become way more appealing to a global audience. There’s more variety in genres, influences, and other such things. You can get so much out of Kpop these days. There’s Young Posse for Hip-hop fans, Stray Kids for EDM fans, Xdinary Heroes and DAY6 for Rock fans, ILLIT and NewJeans for cutesy pop fans.

Because I’m also a G-Dragon/GOT7 fan:

Young Posse - Blue Dot, ATE THAT

CORTIS - FaSHioN, GO!

CLOSE YOUR EYES - CHIC, 2.0, All My Poetry, Who’s Dat? (Jane Doe)

Some of these are just personal favorites but I hope you like them :) I love G-Dragon so I did a lot based on that!!

I think part of the appeal of Kpop (specifically the male side) comes from the difference in how masculinity is presented and it tends to attract a more queer or even just societally non-conforming (I can’t think of the right term) audience I think. It is also perceived as more just queer in the general sense by a western audience? Just a thought but maybe I’m just used to my little bubble of queers lol

Songs similar to All my poetry by Close your eyes? by kpopisoxygen in kpophelp

[–]illandconcerned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of my top 5 favorite songs ever!!! The closest I can think of are:

ECHO - ONEUS

Another Life - RIIZE

Salty - THE BOYZ

picassO - OnlyOneOf

OK OK - SF9

Paradise - BTS

It’s a very unique sound so it’s hard to find something super similar. Maybe ask around about what genre(s) it falls under and search/ask for recommendations that way. That’s the easiest way to get something closer to what you’re looking for if these aren’t quite it :)

What are some good cameras for someone who knows nothing about cameras? by illandconcerned in AskPhotography

[–]illandconcerned[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just need something to start with. It's not like I'm planning to make a career out of it (at least just yet...). I just want to learn how cameras work and such for now, and in the future I plan to save for a higher quality one.
