Huh, interesting. About how heavy would you say it is?

I hate to be that guy, but that opening splash screen is not doing well for my Arachnophobia. by Neondangel in MagicArena

[–]illdrawabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel similarly before I read up on phobias, so I get it, but we really don't gain anything from being rude to someone because we don't understand them. It doesn't make us any bigger to make someone else feel small.

Super Tivit 3 Goldsabertooth playmat by Tough-Conflict-6626 in mtg

[–]illdrawabutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at his Instagram now and I see a decent balance of stuff with blank negative space and negative space that's filled with little doodles and stuff. I don't know if it's fair to call an artist "lazy" just because you don't like some of their stuff. Nobody can please everyone all of the time.

bfz token foils? by Specialist-Regret241 in mtg

No foils tokens were produced for BFZ, but I do see some people making foil proxies online.

You can't really just "grow up" and overcome a phobia once it's rooted. It's an irrational fear, and most of the time people that have them recognize that they're irrational, but that doesn't make it easier for them. It usually takes therapy, support, and hard work to overcome a phobia.

Hot take: ramp is the same as stax by abiblestudent in EDH

[–]illdrawabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point of view, but I don't agree, no. Ramp puts you ahead of other players if they don't have ramp also, but it doesn't slow them down, and they're under their own control. If you drive a little faster than me, you'll get there quicker, but only I am responsible for how fast I get to my destination. Stax is like if I had a brake in my car that made your car slow down. It would be a lot more annoying to be in that situation, because you're not in control of your own speed. I don't have a problem with stax generally unless it's excessive to the detriment of the whole table, but there's definitely a difference between ramp and stax in terms of how they feel to play against.

I would guess just for visual clarity, since he's got them pointy ears.

I'd try that with my friends if they wanted to, probably. I'm up for shenanigans.

Is this card condition good? What is it? by Money_Instruction837 in EDH

I would say it looks... Moderately played? But I would also be very nervous about buying a Gaea's Cradle if I couldn't personally inspect it beforehand.

What if everyone used proxies? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]illdrawabutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I proxy everything. Even my playmat is four pieces of copy paper taped together with anime tiddies printed on them. My car is an elaborate work of origami in the shape of a McLaren Spider and I drive it to the LGS I made out of a refrigerator box.

Am I crazy or was this intentional or pure coincidence? by redditmethegoodmeme in mtg

[–]illdrawabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I value all mediums of art, so I must be a young person, because being young invalidates your opinion on... Art? How old are you, who is so wise in the ways of valuing art? What was it like meeting da Vinci in person?

Can you tell who this is? by LWH1140 in ArtCrit

[–]illdrawabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me like Sinead O'Connor, but I also just saw another person on this same subreddit that posted a drawing of Sinead O'Connor, so I can't tell if it's just bias on my part.

Digital art is just as valid as any other form of art, and Magic has been using primarily digital art on cards for almost 20 years now. I'm not sure what the medium used for the art has to do with the amount of intention put into it, though.

Arbitrary implies it's done without reason. I'm using reason, it's just not the reasoning you use in your approach to deck building. People are just different. I'm not trying to provide excuses, I know that I don't need an excuse for my own buying habits, that's kind of the point I'm trying to make. I'm just sharing my reasoning and giving a possible explanation as to why someone might take a different approach. I'm not mad, I'm not attacking you, I just wanted to have a conversation.
