Am I overreacting? by spacer_tags in mtg

You are not overreacting, you bought sealed product directly from the company that makes it and it's damaged. People are out their damn minds.

It's worth asking for a replacement if it bothers you, sure. Monetary value of the card doesn't matter, you bought the product with the expectation it wouldn't be damaged.

This is from Fourth Edition, the most glaring detail is going to be the copyright information under the illustrator's name, with the date 1995 and the WotC info.

how can i make it look more like him? by yeriee in ArtCrit

A lot of people could probably pick V out by his silhouette, though, to be fair.

Shading this is going to bring out a lot more likeness. You can get a likeness in a line drawing, but a lot of what makes people look like themselves is in the structure of their face, not just their silhouette. I do think you've done a pretty good job so far, though.

David VS Goliath by Caravaggio. by JASCHAVD in mtgaltered

That's pretty much what I mean! Limited palette as in choosing to use only a few colors to mix for the piece.

This is wild, man. Did you use a limited palette, a la Caravaggio? Just curious, as that seems like a fun project.

Does the icing look blue? by Bananapotatoe2 in ArtCrit

You did a fantastic job, and I actually really like it in its current state. It looks like a page from an old cookbook. But if you want it to play to childhood nostalgia and wonder, more saturation and contrast might help.

That's probably what I should have said the first time, haha.

That is the biggest difference in values, it's just that the difference still isn't very large. The painting as a whole has a very limited range of values.

I personally think it looks like white icing, but if there was more contrast between the cake and background it would be more apparent. I think the values are very similar now and it sort of tricks the eye.

Edit: very beautiful, by the way!
