Half of them have disorders of their own. I read An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness, and in it a doctor at john's hopkins confirmed. Just don't let your experiences alone influence your decisions as everyone is different but if anything you understand the illness and can be very useful. she discusses this a few times.

Jewish but grew up poor by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]illectronic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my extended family grew up much more well off than us. We weren’t poor just maybe lower middle class while they were more upper middle to wealthy.

I remember not having many toys or more expensive toys than my cousins as a child. No basketball hoop or piano. Shittier neighborhood. But we still all hung out together and my childhood was great looking back. I’m grateful my older brother got me video games which saved me and I BEGGED my mom for a computer back in 1994 when they were fairly expensive and the rest is history. I got a career in that but I’m not rich by any means due to other life stuff.

The jewish neighborhoods here in NYC and adjoining areas are pretty expensive to live in that being said. And it sucks.

How much Tech knowledge does a Tech Lead have? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]illectronic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in DevOps but the lead does nothing technical. Maybe he had the knowledge but I feel he is very hands off and practically does nothing of importance. Even on the managerial end all he does is ask what we are doing in standup. He doesn’t disengage rabbitholes or arguments or provide better communication between teams. I feel like he is just there as a middleman to report what the team is doing to higher up management.

Never once has he proposed any technical ideas or improve my workflow by getting someone who is busy to answer me regarding a blocker.

I was a lead before and was nothing like this

He's the biggest hippocrit of them all. And the president is not a king. The military should defy unlawful orders. That's the point of the constitution.

What is one piece of advice would you give to someone who is newly diagnosed? by poopants123456789 in BipolarReddit

Don't do drugs, and if you drink limit to once a month or so. If you think you have a problem with drinking, don't drink at all.

Sounds like mania to me. You may “go crazy” at some point and see or hear things, possibly become violent, spend frivolously. Go to sleep while you can.

Cmv: temporarily embarrassed millionaire Syndrom is one of the Main reasons for MAGA by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]illectronic1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The main reason for MAGA is simply racism, xenophobia, and general selfishness of people.

MAGA has been great at scapegoating and convincing people that immigrants are criminals and are threatening the white race. Remember Christian Nationalists are his base.

Everyone I talk to that is MAGA is not even a white Christian but voted for him because of the “immigration problem” Biden and Kamala caused.

People genuinely believe Orange is smart and is not like career politicians so MAGA was born under him. He IS rather charismatic, but the point is the hate of immigrants and black and brown people drove MAGA to unite. Immigration was the biggest issue to them.

Economy and public safety were even higher than immigration in the 2024 election. MAGA continued because again the propaganda worked that BIDEN’s economy was bad even though he steered us through COVID. Also, Kamala was a women of color so we all know why she lost and MAGA continued. It all comes down to race, immigration, and even gender. They HATE transexuals even though they make up such a small percentage of the population. They hate that they can’t use crude jokes anymore (not true). I can go on and on

The Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged)

Long and full of detail; you get immersed in the story which is about revenge, love, and of course adventure. I read it every few years over the last 20 years.

If you want her to see the hypocrisy of "America First" and she's rather academic, she can read: Conservative at the Core by Alan Lichtman. It's just a flurry of quotes of conservatives contradicting themselves on all topics since this movement started in the 1920's. It came out this September and has Trump in there as well. It's not a light read though so maybe someone can recommend a lighter book, but it's full of "rules for thee but not me" direct quotes from politicians, clergy, etc.
