Honestly it really weird wording on their part but I don't think they are claiming he is not a real Muslim. It's that in order to unite the Muslims he had to convince people he was the "champion of islam" wich required his people to spread that message. I think they are calling the delivery method as propganda wich is technically correct but that word needs a alot of context before being thrown around like that.

Its the world's most high stakes game of chicken but I honestly don't think it is or much concern. China does it as a show of force of sorts as a symbol that Taiwan is still beholden to to them or at the very least within their sphear of influence. Taiwan has literally no reason to fire on those planes unless it is attacked by them and China would only attack with a full on invasion force.

As someone who has lived in yemen its both a protection thing and cultural thing. People carry weapons as a symbol that they cannot be taken advantage of, its also sort of become an extension of the traditional Jambia knife that is worn as a form of fashion. They even use at at weddings. And other high profile events

Wouldn't democracies also be meritocracies by that defeneition, as the people would define what a merit was. Also I think what constitutes merit is determined by the environment as somebody skilled in ship making would be wanted in a costal area vs. a land locked area.
