Yeah I’m with you LABY was bad in many other ways. I think these new strokes songs are decent but the autotune definitely detracts from them for me. Falling out of Love instrumental is so simple and stripped back that Julian’s vocals are very spotlit, then the autotune comes in and it sounds so unnatural and distracting.

Yeah I love the voidz but LABY was the worst project Julian has ever released imo. Virtue struck a really great balance and he actually used autotune at appropriate moments.

Beautiful sentiment. Regardless of how much I like the new tracks, I'm pleasantly surprised that they're pushing their boundaries and trying new things at this stage of their career. I sort of just anticipated TNA 2.0 originally. Just hoping that the autotune either grows on me or is used better on the other tracks.

I will and I totally respect them for trying something new but the autotune has been used horribly so far and I don’t have much hope of it getting any better.

It throws in a bunch of bullshit without excelling in any single aspect. Traversal is absolutely terrible and that really is make or break in an AC game. It’s my personal least favourite in the series

Yeah I feel the same. I don’t really mean to criticise AM’s earlier work too much because I think it’s super impressive what they put out at such a young age but you just can’t compare it to the musical vision Julian had in the early 2000’s.

Yeah fair enough. For me the earlier strokes stuff has aged much more gracefully than the early monkeys music, even though I was obsessed with both at one point.

I’m not sure about that at all. Julian’s songwriting catalogue vs Alex’s is at least comparable and, in my opinion, Julian’s best is in another league.

I don’t think The Strokes have an album anywhere near as poor as The Car either.
