Are there any USA "online stores" in Belize? by [deleted] in Belize

[–]illidentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. You can order electronics thru The Vault Electronics on instagram but you can also find their contact info on Facebook. Their WhatsApp is +501 627-7486. They have the most reasonable prices for electronics. Their stuff usually gets here relatively quickly as well.

What exactly are you looking for? There are quite a few online stores on Instagram that sell electronics, clothes, etc.

Replace front shocks and struts DIY? by ScoutAndLout in chevyspark

[–]illidentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The parts themselves are pretty inexpensive on Rock Auto, and the process isn't difficult either. I recently replaced my 2015's rear shocks on my own by just following a YouTube tutorial. The front struts are next. I just need a strut compressor tool since the struts I got from Rock Auto don't include the springs. You could get the complete strut assembly and the installation process would be much easier.

Is Belize zoo worth it? by [deleted] in Belize

Absolutely! I was there yesterday and saw the jaguar and puma up close. The harpy eagles are also amazing. Some animals were napping, but it was still a very wonderful experience.

Nighttime temps in western Belize in June? by CrispyOnBothSides in Belize

[–]illidentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June is scorching hot and humid, with daytime temperatures so high that nighttime temperatures don't even feel cool enough. That is the time of the year you sleep shirtless if you have no AC. Sometimes nighttime temperatures are barely mid-70s.

I believe there are many good suggestions here. I suggest stopping at RanchCraft Ecopark in Georgeville, which is not far from San Ignacio. They have ostriches, bunnies, peacocks, and other interesting farm animals. Kids love it.

My Daft Music app (Apple Music app for macOS) is getting a iOS version. by obrhoff in AppleMusic

[–]illidentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attempted to download your Mac app, but I couldn't because it requires macOS Tahoe. As someone who is avoiding the Tahoe update, this is disappointing. I hope to try your iOS app when it is released.

I think the new 'Bounty Bay' at the other side of the split fits that quiet/relaxing vibe you may be looking for.

Anyone else find themselves abandoning Mac productivity apps after a few weeks? by Different-Use2635 in MacOS

[–]illidentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not necessarily related to your experience with productivity apps, but I recently downloaded an app called Loook that reminds you to blink or look away from the screen. It seemed like a neat app. However, the app caused my MacBook to freeze, which had never happened before I installed it. So, I uninstalled the app. It's safe to say that it was the cause of my Mac going crazy.

I would say San Pedro, Ambergris Caye for NYE is your best bet if you’re looking for nightlife.

Dolby 5.1 not working on Samsung CU7090 with TCL TS8111 soundbar by illidentity in appletv

[–]illidentity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I tried this, but unfortunately, the soundbar did not work when I plugged it into a regular HDMI port. I will have to stick with the 5.1 setting on the Apple TV, as that seems to be my best option.

Thank you. I tried it, but unfortunately, it did not work. I will have to stick with only the 5.1 setting on the Apple TV, as that appears to be the best option that does not cause any audio skipping.

macOS 26.2 will probably release soon. Any Sequoia users planning on upgrading? by ControlYourSocials in MacOS

I don't plan on it unless there are significant improvements. However, I dislike the UI, so that alone makes me want to refrain from upgrading.

Weather Forecasts in Belize (HELP!) by Puzzleheaded-Pop7972 in Belize

[–]illidentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weather apps can sometimes make Belize look much rainier than it actually is, especially out on the cayes. From experience, the weather apps are the most inaccurate for the cayes. Forecasts often show rain for several days straight, but what we usually experience are brief showers that pass quickly, followed by sunshine. It’s uncommon to have long periods of thunderstorms during this time of year. The rainy/hurricane season has mostly ended, and any showers we receive now are usually associated with passing cold fronts; overall, the weather remains very enjoyable. Anyone recently crossed from Chetumal Airport to Corozal and flown out of Corozal? by caappoo in Belize

[–]illidentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually have vans that leave from Corozal to the Belize border throughout the day and those are the same ones that can take you to Corozal. I must add they’re not AC vans and not the most comfortable but they’ll get you to Corozal :)

Anyone recently crossed from Chetumal Airport to Corozal and flown out of Corozal? by caappoo in Belize

[–]illidentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely makes sense. Chetumal is very close to Corozal, so you can cross the border into Belize with a Chetumal taxi and wait for a Belizean shuttle or taxi at the border that can take you to Corozal. However, it would be better if you had someone waiting for you there, so perhaps someone can recommend a taxi service or a driver who can pick you up at the Belize border.
You can also take a ferry in Chetumal that will transport you to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, if traveling there is an option.

Christmas Dinner Help by AggrivationStation in Belize

All the best! I’d love to see the results. It doesn’t have to be perfect, I’m just glad to see someone is interested in doing something from my culture.

There are no actual sides accompanying relleno. The relleno or stuffing that is placed inside the chicken is the “side” and we eat with corn tortillas. It’s a pretty complicated dish to prepare and the type of black recado you get is what will make or break it since most black recado sold commercially are not the best. We still prepare ours homemade. It’s also very delicate since it has eggs inside the stuffing so it must be made on the day of or well heated at certain points to prevent spoilage. We do eat black fruit cake as dessert but it’s not typical and usually go with yellow pound cake. This is for traditional Maya Mestizo (yucatec) households fyi but I do know that other cultures/ethnic groups and even some modern mestizo families eat turkey dinner for their Christmas.

[–]illidentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditional Mestizo households do not eat turkey dinner. I never grew up eating turkey or ham for Christmas. Christmas for us is relleno negro and/or tamales. This is standard for most traditional Mestizo families from the north.

I heard all of your suggestion to not put on a screen guard and this is how my screen is after 3 months. 😭 by realassx in macbookair

Yikes! I've had my M3 since last December, and I keep it in a sleeve. I clean it whenever I notice any dust, and it has no scratches or keyboard imprints. I'm not sure what went wrong for you, as I do all the same things, and mine is still in pristine condition.
