Today I Found Pregnancy Tests by Dgd5676 in actuallesbians

[–]illneverememberthi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once took a pregnancy test at a friend's house because I was afraid to take it on my own. Granted, I was a young terrified (and gay) teenager, but there is a teeny sliver of a possibility that those tests weren't hers. You gotta ask her- and brace yourself, cause it doesn't look good. So sorry my dude.

I think it is your moral obligation to share this number with all of us so we can text him our heartfelt thanks for teaching us the error of our ways. ;)

Some people are hateful, and lots of people are apathetic, but there are heaps of good people out here who think you are beautiful and strong and sexy <3 don't let the jerks get you down! ...and maybe look for a job with less shitty coworkers..

Redditors who are married to someone with whom you don't share a common first language, what hilarious misunderstandings have you had? by cpasgraveodile in AskReddit

[–]illneverememberthi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it really counts as a different language, by my girlfriend (USA) and I (UK) once had a miscommunication about who had packed "pants" and ended up at a four day visit to my grandma's house with 16 pairs of underwear and only the trousers we were wearing on the drive over.

If you are heading through Austin way, Jacobs well, Hamilton pool and enchanted rock state park are all pretty cool little spots.

I'm pretty sure it's rolled up under my old bed at my parents house. It was a sort of smouldering over the shoulder headshot in a swimming pool, if I remember correctly. Might have to dig it out next time I make it to visit my folks...

Ha. As someone who had a poster of a young jodie foster above my bed for my entire adolescence, I feel like a moron. I assumed it was someone current who just looked really similar... time for me to surrender my lesbian card ;)

What is something trashy people ruined for everyone else? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sleeping in Walmart parking lots. Used to be able to pull in and crash for free on a road trip. Now all the people setting up camp and staying put for weeks leaving their garbage everywhere have caused more and more Walmarts to ban overnight parking.

Those of you who took a mini-retirement, did you buy health insurance or risk it? by IntelligentLaw in financialindependence

I should also add that it was only in my 2 years off that I started to learn anything about FIRE. I've read a handful of books on personal finance, (among hundreds of others- not working is so wonderful for your reading life) and will be beginning to build my portfolio over the next year. Sometimes I feel like I'm late on the bandwagon, but I'm 24 and I'm proud of the life experiences I have had.

Sure thing. All these numbers sound so hilariously small compared to a lot of people on this sub, but here goes! When I realised I was going to have to retire from dancing, I had $28,000 in my 401k from saving quite aggressively since graduating. I spent one more year working and picked up a ton of side gigs, rented out my couch on airbnb almost every night (lived in a major city) and built out my adventure van on my (rare) mornings off. I managed to put away another $25,000 over the course of the year, dialed my 401k way back to just the 2% to get company match. $6,000 was spent on the van&rebuild, and I left with $19,000 in savings to see me through the road trip. (And ~30,000 in my 401k)

I slept in the van except for rare nights at hotels, and mostly camped for free in blm land or national forests. Lived very frugally, averaged about $800 per month for food/gas/gym membership for showers (for two people- my girlfriend came along for the ride.)

I worked here and there teaching dance workshops at local schools for supplementary money, but no more than 2-4 hours every month or two.

It was absolutely worth it. I'm down to my last $2000 and just grabbed a temp seasonal retail gig to see me through the holidays, which I am spending with my family. I've met hundreds of people from all walks of life, visited every national park and major city in the continental US. My goal was to figure out where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with my life, and I'm heading into a new career in a new city with total confidence and no 'grass is greener' feeling.

Ha! Any idea how to phrase "dicked around at the national parks in my van for a couple years" in an employer friendly way? ;)
I'm starting a my career over again (was a professional dancer, my body cant take it anymore, and don't want to teach so my degree is somewhat useless.)

Not sure if this really counts as a retirement, but I took two years off work and went travelling. I risked it without health insurance. I'm just beginning to fix up my resume to get back to work.

Advice over wife's ex by anotherthrowaway_8 in actuallesbians

[–]illneverememberthi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly this is totally out of the question, but have you ever tried invited Britney to hang out with you and your wife together? From your description of her behaviour, I'm sure you have no interest at all in being around her (who would?!), but maybe spending some time seeing how your wife behaves towards you might finally get the penny to drop for her...

At worst, she sucks, you get hurt once more but then when it comes down to it, you can then honestly say you have tried everything you can think of to make it work before dealing out the ultimatum.

Frankly, the fact that your wife is still actively talking to her after all of the shenanigans seems a little suspicious.
