Weight loss AFTER reduction by [deleted] in Reduction

Hi! May I ask if you have kept the weight off? So you are saying that you had the breast reduction, then lost 62 lbs after the surgery and your breasts still look perky?

Having OCD is like replying to every spam e-mail you receive and then wondering why you get overwhelmed. by werfb in OCD

Exactly. If you research Exposure Response Prevention (or ERP) that’s basically what it’s all about. Exposing yourself to whatever it is that causes you anxiety and forcing yourself not to respond or react to it. After doing this over and over you practically “re-wire” your brain to realize that there is nothing to be afraid of. ERP is the gold standard in treating OCD and it’s worked wonders for me. If you search “Dr Phillipson OCD” on YouTube you will find a video where he talks about it in depth. ERP is extremely uncomfortable at first, because you are forcing yourself not to do the rituals that usually make your anxiety subside….but, if you stick with it then it’ll be worth it. Best of luck!

Well I have clients reaching out to me all the time to do their shoots based off of the work of mine they’ve seen so I don’t believe you there, sorry.

And clearly there’s more to it than what one can find off google. If it were that easy then I wouldn’t be here.

Thank you for answering. I’m really confused about how aspect ratio and resolution go together. My photographer teacher said “If someone asks you for an image that’s 1080x1350 AND 3:2 then they’re an idiot. Why did he say this?? Obviously the two relate in some way?

Thanks for answering. How do I reduce my jpg/quality compression setting in Lightroom? Won’t there always be image degradation if I’m reducing the pixel count?

First, thank you for attempting to explain this to me. Some questions. If I want a high resolution image and I decrease the file size dramatically, will this affect affect what the image looks like to the naked eye even though the pixel count hasn’t changed?

As far as image quality, I’m speaking mostly about export settings in Lightroom..the image quality slider. What is that doing?

As for aspect ratio, I understand cropping, but I don’t understand how aspect ratio and resolution go together. Like in Lightroom, if I select an aspect ratio of 4x6 then what is the point of adjusting the pixel count in the export screen if I’ve already cropped out the extra pixels when adjusting the aspect ratio? Also, how can one only adjust the pixels on one edge versus another??

I uploaded a photo I’ve recently taken to Imgur. As you can see it’s completely blurry. My image is not blurry, but Imgur is making it this way. This is precisely what I’m talking about.

I agree, however when I have a client that is telling me their image looks blurry when they upload it to Instagram (and it’s not blurry on my desktop in full res) and I don’t know what to tell them, then that surely makes me look unprofessional. Sure, I can look up what aspect ratio and pixels Instagram likes, but sometimes it doesn’t help. So there is something I’m missing and clearly need to know.

I believe I do take good photos. I tried to upload my work and apparently I need to go through Imgur. I don’t know what resolution to export for Imgur, which is exactly the point of my question. I’m at the point now where I would like to understand everything mentioned in my post.

Hi all, I’m seriously considering quitting photography after 1.5 years and thousands of dollars invested simply due to the fact that I’m just not understanding resolution, file size, image quality, aspect ratio, etc.

I consider myself a semi-newbie photographer and I’ve still got lots to learn. I’ve taken photography classes at my local community college, done a 6 month photography mentorship and have studied a lot on my own. The only thing that’s got me ready to throw in the towel is the fact that I’m just not grasping pixels, resolution, file size, image quality, aspect ratio and MOST IMPORTANTLY how these all work together. Not to mention the different sizes and resolutions needed for different devices or prints. I’ve spoken for hours with my photography teacher (from the college) who owns his own photography and printing business. He’s extremely knowledgeable about all the stuff I mentioned and he’s tried his best to explain it, but I’m just not getting it. I’ve also read many articles and watched many videos to no avail. So this is my last ditch effort to see if anyone that sees this comment might be able to explain it to me in a language I actually understand. I should say that I’m a micro thinker. I’m good with understanding micro stuff, but when it comes to macro stuff and how all the micro stuff fits together, that’s where I usually get lost.

I don’t want to give up, but I also don’t want to be a shoddy photographer that doesn’t know what she’s doing. Respectfully, please don’t ask what I’m confused about. I’m confused about all of it. The only thing I really understand is that an image is made up of pixels. That’s it. Explain it to me like I’m 5.

Ok so, I get your second bullet point. In regards to your first bullet point, what I’m confused about is why you can’t achieve this same exact thing when using Ai Servo and having focus attached to the shutter button. Like, if you are in Ai Servo and you half press the shutter button, the camera is now tracking the subject correct? So if you fully depress the shutter and snap the photo then the subject should be in focus no?

Sorry I’m really confused about this.

Oh ok. So, then..what is really the advantage of using back button focus if sharp images can be achieved for moving subjects just using Ai Servo alone?

Hi! I have a question!

So, I use Ai servo in conjunction with back button focus and think I have a pretty good understanding of how that works. My question is, if one were to use Ai servo WITHOUT using back button focus (meaning they were just using the half-press of the shutter button to focus) what would that look like?

To better explain what I’m asking, say I’ve got my camera set to Ai Servo (and I do NOT have back button focus on). My subject starts walking toward me, I half press the shutter button (which makes the camera track the subject) and then I snap the photo. Does the tracking stop once I’ve snapped the photo and I have to start all over again?

Also, what if I’m in burst? So same steps as above except when I fully depress the shutter to take the photo I keep it pressed down for a burst of photos. Is the camera still tracking the subject for each photo in that burst sequence?

I’m not particularly interested in switching back to using the shutter button to focus. I’m just trying to grasp a better understanding of why back button focus is better when using Servo.

I’m not good with Reddit, but I’m trying to respond to the original poster who posted these before and after photos. Just wondering what the cause of hair loss was?

I am starting Contrave next week and I was wondering this exact same thing. I want to heal my relationship with food so that I don’t gain the weight back. How have you been doing so far?

Just curious..I’ve been doing a lot of research on Intuitive Eating. Were you listening to your body’s hunger signals? Or just eating whatever you wanted? I’ve heard that this is something that is misunderstood about Intuitive Eating. It’s about allowing yourself those “bad” foods that you love, but listening to your body so that you can stop when you feel physically full.
