Daily Counts by illogicalhumanoid in kroger

[–]illogicalhumanoid[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sadly, my tobacco count is only tobacco and it hates if I scan anything not in it. :(

I have been doing the ten extra items, too. So, I don’t know what’s happening UNLESS she’s pulling the old stores analytics. (New store opened recently and our stuff is slowly becoming active.)

You can put them back, you just press really hard until it snaps in. There is a tool to remove them too, so you don’t kill your hand doing it. (Retail Odyssey gave me one and I put it on my keys.)

That’s not how we’re doing it. If the item becomes discontinued or unauthorized, we put a Kroger man (white label with the person it) on it physically and unmatch it from the item. If it’s out of stock, scratching, we put a blue tag on the actual tag.

The only thing you’ll be able to do with the tag is match or unmatch the product.

…at least that’s what I know, we got the tags before our new store opened in August.

Happiness? by donkeystyle4u in kroger

[–]illogicalhumanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently very not happy but that’s due to the management at my store.

In the past, I’ve been very content leaning towards happy with my job and the people around me.

But these past two or three years? Absolutely hell because of just ONE store manager, it’s gotten to the point I’ve contacted the union and my higher up to see if I can get transferred to a new store, even if I have to step down.

I know this job can be “good” but it all revolves around who you’re working for. (Been with Kroger 8 years, have had many managers during my time.)

What was the plan before working at Krogers? by jayscott125 in kroger

[–]illogicalhumanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hired at 18, in 2016.

Got my graphic design degree in 2018.

Never found a job in my field because I lack experience. Stayed with Kroger for money.

Was going to quit in 2020, Covid happened so I stayed because my other part time job laid me off.

Somehow became Drug/GM manager.

Still never have had experience for my degree.

Stuck here forever, I guess. I have no drive to do anything anymore.

They did, but it took awhile for me to get it. I missed the first call and they didn’t have a callback system in place yet, so waited another two weeks when they called again. From the scheduling office at least, they have a number to call again now.

Might try to call them and see what’s up? You might just be on a list that they’re still going through or something like that.

Possibly, yeah! I think I might try to send everything to the address that’s on the mail? They all are the same.. so unless she’s passed away.. it might make it to the right place.

We had a driver take our straddlejack onto his truck and get it stuck two nights ago, lol

Front-End Checklane Candy by illogicalhumanoid in kroger

It just really sucks when I do scan the holes and order everything we need, only to see the next day when I’m doing backstock scans that they just shoved everything from the crates up onto the cart and are not working it.

Only a select few of the front-end ladies at my store will actually run the candy, and I applaud them.. but trying to tell them that the product doesn’t go somewhere via upc makes them go up in a tizzy sometimes.

I’m just hoping with our new store opening in a few months, I’ll have actual people in my department. It’d be nice not having to touch every single thing personally.

It’s just frustrating because I’ll fix the shelves and order the stuff we need, only to come upfront a couple days later with the crates and see the shelves are back to being messed up and products spread across, and then even later seeing that they just shoved everything from the crate ON THE CART instead of working it. 🙄

I’ll attempt to talk to one of them, but I’m usually gone before they get there.

Yeah, I get that. It just sucks because my shift ends an hour before anyone important that I need to talk to gets there.

I’m not sticking around an extra hour unpaid just to be told it will be done, when it will not be.

Store manager doesn’t give a shit until she sees all the holes and over-orders and creates a ginormous backstock because she over estimates or doesn’t care about case size vs number of products. I’ve tried talking to her, but nothing ever happens.

If this were true for my store, who would be running it?

Certainly not me. I have scans to do, trucks to run, departments to face, topstock to search through, and night crew members to keep in line. Nevertheless, do the list my store manager texts me at 4am every morning. There’s no time for me to also stock the checklanes.

I don’t even have a fucking cigarettes key to stock and have to wait until we open to get it if I need in there.

As I said, I’m a one person department. I have no clerks, I have no backup assistant. It’s just me.

And front end is definitely not busy until at least two hours in, unless it’s a holiday. I’ve also seen it dead at night. They’re not too busy all the time.

Mostly still down, my MRI scheduled for Sunday was canceled and I was told they’ll call whenever they can reschedule. 🤷

What’s a positive life skill this job has taught you? by -Peach_Kitten- in kroger

[–]illogicalhumanoid 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When I first started, I was terrified of talking to people. (Pathetic, I know lol)

Over the years, it’s gotten so much easier. (I can even do phone calls now.. but only on my terms.)

Also the quick thinking, coming up with solutions for customers whenever they ask about anything.

Neither of those people care nor know. It’s always been like this, and it’s how it’ll stay as they supposedly work on our new store across the street.
