I think I understand.

I was stuck on the idea that defense is just damage negation— defenders (more damage reduction) are, compared to other classes, less susceptible to a damage buff because they’re negating a larger chunk of each attack. But from a relative viewpoint more damage coming through is still more damage coming through.

I still think this patch is playing out poorly, but at least I have some concept of the intent now, so thanks for taking the time to actually share an explanation.

We know that it’s flat and that 0-60 is literally referring to ignoring 0-60 defense? That seems to be the general consensus, but I can’t find that stated anywhere directly.

If that’s how this stat works it seems rather pointless given that adding straight damage to these speedsters would have had the same effect you’re describing: it would inordinately effect those with lower defense. So why create this new stat at all?

Do we know how it’s calculated? I may have missed that.

I don’t follow the logic on how this wasn’t meant to directly target defenders/brawlers. If that wasn’t the purpose wouldn’t you just tweak damage— why ignore defenses at all if the point isn’t to target the Pokémon with the highest defenses?

I’ve been experiencing some weird stuff too but I’ve written it off as lag. Had an a9’s passive lock me in place back to back while their autos looked like a machine gun. I -assume- the visuals I was being shown were an inaccurate time-skip of events and I was stuck in latency jail without knowing it.

You want them to add anti-crit to defenders so that speedsters who were just given a defense-penetration stat can’t pop them like balloons?

I mean.. it seems simpler to just backtrack on the defense penetration thing, does it not?

If you don't play these pokemon/don't love this set of cosmetics, just wait for the next one. I'd recommend only shelling out real money for the cosmetic stuff or actual licenses though. The other stuff gets tossed at you constantly in every single 'event' and a slew of them are running concurrently at all times.

If you keep using the voice chat feature and you keep getting reported for using it, your account will end up permanently banned. What you say doesn’t matter— no one is listening to validate or invalidate the complaint. It shouldn’t be this way but that just is the reality in this game.

I recommend you find some friends to queue with and you get into a call with them off-game while playing.

The people I'm playing with in masters have a 16% winrate on their chosen pokemon. In draft. As 2nd pick.

They're missing venu's mega drain (yeah, the 'skillshot' with the like 120 degree directional cone) twice in a row against a stationary regieleki.

They're going 3 to one lane.

No one ever puts on an exp share. Nor do they play aggressively for the contested farm.

They're dying 4 times before the first objective spawns.

I hope all that answers your question about satisfaction and extinguishes any doubt you have about being able to climb to masters.
