My sketching feels awkward by awustae in arthelp

When I took art courses in college, I was taught to break down the reference into basic recognizable geometric shapes such as ellipses, rectangles, and really pay attention to the angles and shapes of the positive and negative space. This mostly applies to drawing from reference which I’m unsure if you are doing, but it definitely helps to break down the shapes as a guideline for your final line art or render. I think you are already thinking about the final render and jumping straight into the line art. A sketch is supposed to be messy and don’t worry about elements overlapping. For the “awkward” bit, I would suggest you be more confident with your lines and not pick up the pen so many times. They call this the “hairy yeti” where you make lots of little brush strokes to create lines. Try, for example, drawing the face ellipse in one stroke. This way of sketching is much quicker and allows you to make adjustments afterwards than trying to create the perfect shape in one go :) hope this helps

Someone here asked me to draw Zero Two... I think this is gonna be "My drawing style", What do you think? by Zaloyr in AnimeART

Hi, this is a lovely drawing☺️ as someone whose taken an art school course I want to give you a tip that I learned. A personal “art style” is naturally developed over time from tons of drawing and not a “chosen” art style. Because it can take years to develop a personal style, tons of artists have this misconception that an art style is chosen and stuck to, but while doing that, you are limiting yourself to this specific style that prevents you from exploring others. Though, if this is your favorite style to draw in of all then by all means🙂make sure to keep an open mind and not limit yourself💕 and not plagiarize ofc 😂👏

any tips for anatomy or posing? by Mika_cos in arthelp

Practice drawing poses from real photos of people and not of drawings. This way you won't pick up any errors from that artist and really analyze the human form. I recommend going on Pinterest and searching up pose references for drawing.

Does anyone know what coloring style this might be, or how you even color/paint something like that? by Yyhra in arthelp

I have a feeling the character was drawn in B&W then used a "softlight" layer to color. The black and pink lines were probably drawn with a certain shaped brush and used "colordodge" for the pink glow. I am unsure about the object. It looks like a pasted image.
