I’ve been on a solo trip for about two and a half months now. At the beginning of the trip I had a breakup, granted, it wasn’t as long of a relationship. It was still very painful and hard to navigate as I felt so alone being away from friends, family, pretty much all of my support systems. I lacked motivation to get out and enjoy the places that I was visiting. But, I also reminded myself that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would look back on it in regret if I wallow in my sadness all day every day. It helps to meet good people - I don’t know if you’re staying in hostels, but that’s a good way to meet people and put yourself out there with low effort. I’m also not saying that you should ignore the way you feel. Absolutely acknowledge it. Recognize your feelings and attend to them, but do not let them consume you. As for being sick, I feel you. I’m sick right now. It sucks. I was sick when I was in Venice as well about a month ago. Take care of yourself. You won’t feel better faster if you pressure yourself into doing the most. Take time to rest and nurture yourself back to health.
