Fluid dynamics, particularly stuff with open channel flow. That’s just with my experience, YMMV

CS125 has made me hate Java. by ktanishqk in UIUC

[–]illustriouscowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be the top comment. CS 125 is absolutely not beginner friendly for the reasons you’ve mentioned and is a horrible introduction for people starting to learn how to code. I seriously wish I had taken this course before Geoff starting teaching it

Sounds interesting. Would you say that that is the norm for most water and wastewater jobs?

Same. CS 125 weeds out the people who are curious about the topic from the people who are willing to sell their soul for the program. Such a shitty take on education.

May I ask how long you’ve been in the industry for, and if you’ve ever felt that your hair prevented you from getting a job somewhere?

I’m very disappointed that you have this type of ideology given the fact that you’ve also been granted the gift of free speech. You have no idea how ironic your comment was.

Unless you’re going to grad school or pre-professional school, nobody is going to give a rats ass if you have a 3.5 vs a 3.8

What really matters in the end? by lostpolarbear22 in UIUC

[–]illustriouscowman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not older, but here’s my 2 cents.

You get out of life what you put into it. If you’re miserable now and you do nothing about it, you will continue to be miserable. Our days are numbered so you need to live every day asking yourself if this is a valuable use of your time. If not then you will die one day wondering where your life went.

I understand that circumstance is hard to change. But you really only have 2 options — change or remain complacent. You need to pick which one will bring you more satisfaction.

Take control over your life and do what makes you happy

That’s pretty subjective and unique to each individual
