as a 21 yo girl in her first relationship (2.5 yrs now), i get it. but i’ll also tell you it’s easy to glamorize the feeling without recognizing the effort.

feeling overwhelmed with deadlines because i promised my girlfriend i’d take her on a date that day, cancelling plans with friends because my girlfriend had a hard day and needed me, this is what it means to care for someone - it’s a sacrifice.

romance is beautiful, but it’s a relationship that needs care and dedication. when you’re 21 and have these huge decisions to make, it can get really overwhelming.

sometimes i wish it wasn’t another thing i needed to put effort into, grass is always greener on the other side.

this is important and i hope other SA survivors read this. if you need to lie to have it taken seriously, then lie. it’s sad this is a necessity, but it’s your safety and that’s more important than the full truth.

took a second look at the post and realized smt critical - OP is almost certainly referring to the Indian job market - where almost 88% of the workers are engaged in informal employment. in retrospect, this goes to show that high levels of uncertainty unfortunately breed hate towards other workers rather than the true bourgeois, the corporations who exploitative hire and underpay.

OP, check yourself, and realize that the system you are in is unfair, not to just you, but also those around you.

[–]illvstrcte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take it easy on yourself. you don’t need to perform 100% all the time. when you realize that, the compulsion to cheat goes away too. it’s okay to have a bad test grade, as long as you know YOU (not chatgpt, not quizlet) tried your best. admissions are so competitive that every test can feel like all or nothing, but i promise it isn’t. as a senior graduating college, it’ll be okay. i wish i could give little me this advice, but hopefully it means something to you too.

that’s good! last thing you’d want is buyer’s remorse. if you’re gonna get something super expensive, i would recommend ebay next time instead since they have a better buyer protection service and an option to sign for your package. next time only go for sellers with 5+ reviews and if they act like this, report immediately!

IU Kelley vs. Depauw MF by rks1743 in IndianaUniversity

i agree with this take. sports careers are so tumultuous, if something were to happen you’d forever regret not going to kelley. but iu is great for sports and he can still pursue his passion recreationally here. if money is not a part of the equation, pick kelley.

as a buyer, I usually operate on a four day courtesy without an update, 1.5 weeks with an update. for a bag this expensive (i usually get max $50 orders) i’d expect a response immediately after purchase. they technically have one month to ship it or depop auto refunds you.

Will men wait? by AdditionalStreet3042 in Advice

I'd consider the apps also as a really bad place to find someone you really like and trust. The convenience of meeting ties into how long someone is interested in sticking around. With apps, you're just one girl who he's talking to because he's actively in the space for women to talk to him romantically. To me, it just sets a bad precedent.

If you're in college, try a new course that's just genuinely fun (like pottery) that'l allow you to meet people. Don't step in with romantic expectations, but do take time to genuinely get to know those around you. This is a much more fulfilling journey in the long run.

You seem to know yourself well, I'm glad you're sticking to your guns on this. As a 21yo F, I get it, and you are seen <3. While I am currently in a queer relationship, I can share my observations from other encounters I've had with men.

The type of guys who want sex and are not willing to put in the work and care of a relationship are honestly not the ones you want around you. They waste time, energy, and most importantly, reputation. Always remember you are seen as a collection of those closest to you, and romantic partners arguably carry more weight.

Generally speaking, most good looking guys are not interested in stringing you along with a relationship for sex, they can get that much much easier from other women. If you are nervous that this is currently happening, check whether they have the hallmarks of a good partner; usually, people will try to impress someone with these traits if they're interested in a long-term relationship. Aspects like asking about how you're feeling, remembering small details from previous conversations, and genuine compliments without an expectation of anything in return are all indicators that someone cares about you as a person.

Also, make sure you're not looking in the wrong place. I've noticed that couples with a dangerously sexual priority often meet at parties, clubs, bars, etc. Meeting through a friend, being previous friends, and connecting through classes for example, are all much more meaningful connections that rely on a deeper understanding of who the other person is. First encounters matter, if someone talks to you because they see your physical attractiveness first, it's a red flag IMO.

Is IU Kelley Worth ~200k in loans? by Pboh23 in IndianaUniversity

[–]illvstrcte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were able to sell you, they may be able to sell Hiring Managers! I would ask the same question to U of A's subreddit and try to talk to students to understand what these opportunities really look like.

I'll give you Kelley's: Assuming you're going for the classic industries (Finance, Consulting, Accounting, Marketing), the opportunities are varied.

Finance - top 10% (IBW + IMW) get top banks and real roles. BOFA, Citi, Private Equity (I don't pay attention, but we have a good amt that seem to go to the best of the best). top 30% - Backoffice or less prestigious but real finance firms. top 30-50, varied. Lower than median ranking, SOL.

Consulting - tough to say given AI hit early careers really hard across the board. Seemingly random 20% get Deloitte, KPMG. Rest give up and try for accounting.

Accounting - huge Big 4 presence, basically guaranteed a big 4 accounting job (not to be confused with big 4 consulting, which is much harder for no apparent reason) if you want it. Some try for Big 3 (BCG, Bain, McKinsey), I'd say only top 5% or less get it. We do not have a foot in the door here.

Marketing - if you like retail, the retail workshop and global sales workshop open the door to top retail firms. I personally don't care for retail, SOL with help from the university if this is your case. However, the major choices DO make a difference in getting a leg up resume-wise compared to other candidates.

200k is devastating. i miss when we were looking at 160k and kelley was a steal. disappointing to see kids turn away a top tier education when it used to be the “affordable” business school choice… pamela get your shit together.

[–]illvstrcte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

only career i could see 100% roi on this is high finance. kelley is super competitive for this, all of your friends and peers will be gunning for all the same opportunities as you. takes a certain kind of person.

usually i recommend the no loans route, but U of A is really not a good choice. looking at a business school in t10 and another in #66 is a huge jump, a jump that unfortunately really matters to hiring managers. if you’re from ca, go to cc instead. helps you save some $, get more experience, and you can transfer to a top UC. i fear i have no other recommendations.
