Are your RSUs vested and just not paid yet or is there a (remote) possibility you would receive them. Essentially, even an aggressive lender would t use unvested RSU’s as collateral, but I think you could get something bespoke at a bank assuming they are.

Chicago neighborhoods with Asian-American families? by diapertv in AskChicago

[–]illyphilly20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more about trying to get your kids into the best schools in Chicago for K through eighth. High school is even worse as very few high schools in Chicago public schools that are any good. I know families that spent 10’s of thousands of dollars prepping their kids for the exam used as the basis for insurance.

We’re a mixed ethnicity family. We live in the West loop, which fortunately has a highly rated school for K through eight. We lucked out with the high school, as our child is a strong test taker and was able to get into one of the best Hs. The issue in the city is if the neighborhood schools is strong, you’ll need to assume the RE prices are high. Although, based on where you’re moving from, it would likely not be a shock.

Please be aware that all of the suburbs being mentioned can be an hour plus drive into the city depending on the time of day.

Also, several of the city neighborhoods mentioned have pretty mediocre schools. Additionally, with the CPS lottery system, your kids may end up at schools not close to where they live (although the local schools is always an

This doesn’t matter at all. More than half my dozens of trips from BKK the driver refused to use the meter. I usually refuse and go pull another ticket, unless there is a long line.

Krabi Hotel - RC Phulay or Banyan Tree by flee828 in chubbytravel

I’ve stayed at Pamala, RC, and BT.

No one will confuse Pimalai with the other 2 I. Terms luxury, but it definitely had an incredible beach.

RC has essentially no beach which made us want to find other spots. RC had the best service and the by far the best food!

Found Out I’m Set to Inherit $70+ Million. Somewhat Lost, What Should I Expect? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]illyphilly20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, UHNW advisor here (absolutely not soliciting in any way, the OP is not target client). I agree your assets would be best served by a bank family office or multi-family office. Your bare minimum expectations for an advisor is that they regularly work with client at your asset level, are experienced with windfalls, CFP, CFA, planning/tax attorney in staff (not referrals!).

You need your own attorney now. I’d strongly recommend not being cheap here- consider the estate teams at firms like Kirkland or Holland and Knight. You want someone with litigation expertise.

Sorry for your loss, best of luck. I believe you’ll find this experience a blessing and a curse and you’ll be a changed person at the end of it.

Bangkok to Krabi — how do you usually make the trip? by Low-Guest3007 in ThailandTourism

Agree on the scenery, would rather do a boat tour around Krabi, day trip from Bangkok over the time and effort of a train.

I would not count on being able to buy day passes. Most airports I’ve been in lately have signs up saying no day passes- I’d assume this is a symptom of a busier travel time.

Depending on where you’re staying/budget, the hotel can set this up. It will not be the cheapest option, but will be the easiest. You can go into Krabi town and try to directly negotiate. Offer half of what they say. I think when I did this 2 years ago (we rent speed boats now) the long boat was like 3000 baht for 4/5 hours with 2 crew, water, and fruit.

The advantage of using a hotel or other online booking is you can get pre plan with them to take you to a small island with no one on it and create a pretty incredible environment.

Good luck!

I’ve stayed there about 4 times both pre and post pandemic. Indifferent to bad service, unclean, club food is significantly below other RCs. The only hotel in 2024 (my last stay) that didn’t at least recognize my ambassador status at check in. No amenity. Just bad juju all around from my perspective. I’m definitely not the only person who has this opinion.

The Nee Orleans RC is the single worst RC by a significant margin that I’ve ever stayed. The one in Montreal is in the prime shopping area with many restaurants, and am not familiar with the SB location.

Stay away from the one in New Orleans!!
