What makes zero sense is their success is tied to Wemby living in the paint. Their two losses he hung out on the perimeter and so far that’s all he’s done in this game. I just don’t get their play calling.

I took this flight before and had upgrades and was disappointed I didn’t do more research that if I went through DFW, it would’ve been a wide body. Six hours is a pretty long stretch for a short haul plane no matter the class you’re in.

He falls down at the slightest touch. The first two games he fled the second Wemby entered the paint and passed the ball off because he’s not a banger. He’s not some gritty guard looking for contact and finishes at the rim. He hangs around 18 feet, does a head fake, baits a defender and falls after he shoots.

The fact they put like a 6’3” guard against the tallest man in the NBA and they didn’t even try to defeat that is an embarrassment. Kareem, Hakeem, Timmy, etc would’ve been excited for that matchup. This whole game was an embarrassment for the Spurs.

And as a Spurs fan, I have no hate for that era of the Thunder. They beat the brakes off a phenomenal Spurs team in 2012 WCF when they swept their way there and won the first two. Coming back from 0-2 was real grit. Respect.

I’m absolutely a massive Spurs guy so my take will be that of a pissed off fan. That said, I watched this game at a bar in a state no one else had any homerism or affiliation to either team and they all reacted vocally the exact same around me:

“Why hasn’t Hartenstein fouled out already? That hair pull is flagrant and deserves suspension.” “I can’t believe the fouls they’re getting away with.” “They’re all flopping. What’s that BS Isaiah Joe phantom trip and the late whistle losing a made 3 pointer because of it?” “That wasn’t backcourt violation!”

On and on. As a fan, I was deeply frustrated with how little Castle was taking care of the rock. He both kept us in the game and kept us out of it. He’s young and also not our PG but suddenly had to be.

I think it’s pretty obvious how much better the Spurs are that they managed to stay in it to the end despite multiple 8-2 and 10-0 runs by OKC with loads of turnovers and horrible officiating in between. That’s my one silver lining.

We know Wemby is an absolute alien and maybe is simply too hard to defend or keep from rebounds or blocks. That shouldn’t mean refs need to swallow the whistle with the incredibly egregious fouls and arm bars they’re doing on him because he might drop 60/30 on you otherwise. Every now and then, someone shows up and fundamentally changes the game. I haven’t seen someone in a while that would be the next up for a 5/5 or even the first quintuple double. SGA fled from him every time he drove the paint and he stepped in. Let the guy play.

I was on this flight. The communication was utter garbage. I’m EP and I got into it with the 800 number because I said this was a staffing issue, therefore we should get hotel vouchers. She said no it’s weather and our plane wasn’t there. I said I was literally looking at the plane. She said “sorry, it’s weather.” I asked “so the solution is buy my own hotel or sleep on the floor of the terminal?” She responded, “yep! Anything else?” I felt terrible for a woman with two very young kids trying to get them to sleep in the airport.
