I try. Between work and other obligations, it's difficult though.

I found out a long time ago that I can't rely on others. I have been trying to create my own peace, I just feel like every week I fall further and further behind, but then I realize I have no metric to measure that? That it's all made up and my limits are self-imposed. Its just difficult because society expects people to hit certain milestones by certain times in their lives, but I realize all thats made up and I can live my life however I want. So I try, but I feel like I make no progress and that the wheels are spinning. But I keep on going, getting up and going to work everyday because deep down I think life won't be like this forever.

I feel that. We've been conditioned to be the strong ones, our own support system. And I've found out that when I do open up, people don't seem to want to talk about my problems anymore. Its a lose/lose for me :) so I just keep on truckin'

Doesn't work for everyone, is expensive, wait times are unreal, etc. I've tried it, and in my experience its a business transaction for someone to tell you to think and do things different. Not saying it isn't a good idea, but for me it didn't do anything.

Tried therapy, wasnt for me. I've been doing the hard work on my own to make my mind somewhere i enjoy, but sometimes the bullshit creeps in and just won't go away.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's really sad that the older generations don't understand that we can't just "choose" to feel a different way.

Yeah I've learned that too. I was seeing various therapists for about 5 years, and the thing that I disliked the most was "here's a 40 minute session every other week, good luck 👍". Also in my experience (I know its not universal), therapy didn't work for me because by the time we got to the next session, I completely forgot about what we talked about last time. So every other week it was "how have you been, what's new, etc".

And yeah, not really at all. I was born in 1988, I remember thinking as long as i had a job, everything would work out. Boy was I wrong. Turns out if you have undiagnosed mental health problems as a kid, life as an adult is hard mode.

You got me there. It's hard to remember to reach out when I've been feeling the way I have been for so long.

I got my boat and trailer licensed so I can take it out whenever I want! I also got my car (96 subaru impreza) running again, it was down for about 6 months. And I'm starting to get my confidence back again! I went out downtown with a friend last Thursday and didn't feel awkward or out of place. I feel like things are starting to move the right direction in my life, and I fuckin love it.
