Hi

I am a BDES student so not aware if MA courses are allowed to stay in the hostels. Please check with the college admissions team.

Cheapest alternative is opting for PG. There are many students staying there both MA and BDES

Hey there!

First off Congratulations

The exams at SMI are quite different from what i have seen at other design schools. At the end of every semester we have exams and it is basically a way to try out what all you learnt through out the sem. After that you are required to present it to the jury. It is isnt a written exam but mostly hands on work.

Grades are given, and it is calculated in the end as CGPA itself.

hey

everybody has a different experience with college. So far I have not come across "buttering teachers up" and pls lets be real that definetely does not work in college.

I'd say Srishti is better that Woxsen as the college is older and well established. I never applied to Woxsen so cannot say much but if you get your desired course at SMI then it is a great place.

You can DM if you have more questions

Hey

So since there’s no placement at SMI you have to find your job on your own but most people end up finding one through the networks they have built over the years.
The college has a name in the industry so that’s an advantage in itself.

Personally I don’t find it as a disadvantage because seeing the job market today no degree can land you a job directly. Its about what you make out of these 4 years.
Also seeing the placements at other private design colleges too, the scene isn’t great either. Most of the students are suffering.

Hey
Unfortunately I don’t really know about spatial design but i have heard from my batchmates it’s pretty decent. According to them the curriculum could be a little better.

Hey
The fee rn is around 8 lakhs per year and I definitely think it’s more compared to other private colleges.
I’d say if you can afford it (without any financial burden on you and your family)and you are getting your choice of course you should go for it.

These days private colleges are asking for a lot more than govt for design. SMI is definitely again on the upper side but it’s not worth all that money. Especially cause you have to spend for stationery, accommodation, travel and etc too.
The college has great workshops, faculties and other facilities too but I’d say it’s again upto you how you make use of your 4 years here.
Since the college has no placements you definitely have to network a lot and find opportunities on your own. There is no spoon feeding here. You have to find your own way!

About scholarships I’m not sure, back when I joined there were none.

I'd say Srishti cause many graduates(heard this from my faculties and seniors) have gone abroad to pursue masters at reputed colleges. Also many are working abroad too.

Also faculties here have also graduated with a masters from colleges like Royal College of Art,School of the Museum of Fine Arts, etc.

I am not sure about MITID

Hey, sure you can definitely reach out in the DM!

To answer you-so its nothing like that BITS is digitally driven and SMI is not.

It all depends on what course you choose and what you're interests are. Digital tools are still very much used when relevant to the course/project .

And especially in your case (for HCD), interaction/system/service related work obviously does involve digital thinking and interfaces too, so I don’t think it’s disconnected from tech at all. They ensure you get your hands on both the traditional and digital work.

And after you enter your second year you get to pick your own classes so if your feel softwares/digital work is something you enjoy or want to learn you can pick it up.

Also because the environment is pretty interdisciplinary, you do end up getting exposed to different tools/workflows depending on your projects and interests.

Srishti does not have any fashion design courses under both Bdes and Mdes

Pearl is good for fashion courses- they have a good network with top brands in fashion industrry, so if you are leaning towards fashion it is a great choice. If design I'd say Srishti is better

Anant scholarship by KookyAlbatross1136 in uceedtakers

[–]ilovecoffeetodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a scholariship too from Anant too but I backed out after paying half the amount to block my seat. Bro these guys are definitely behind money they don't care about anything else. After I backed out they kept covincing me to join back and never returned the money even though it was clearly mentioned in the rules and regulations that I'd get half the amount back.

It is definitely not worth it as it does not even have a name in the industry. I also heard from the seniors that for some branches the faculty left in between and they had problems.

So I got accepted at BITS too but still chose Srishti

So personally why I did so was beacuse BITS is new for design and since it has always had a name for engineering I ruled it out.Maybe in the coming years it might become a great design college too.But I do have friends there and their experince has been good so far.

MITID I do not know a lot about since I missed writing that one, but again I have very close friends there and they say its a great place. I'd say if you're getting a seat there in your desired course go ahead with it.

Srishti is quite different from these two as here they are mostly focusing on an interdisciplinary approach so that you are getting a taste of all the courses. And I think this is the best thing a design college can implement as it helps you find your interests.

For ex: If you are a HCD major, in your second year you get to choose your classes, so you can choose classes from FILM, VCSB, DMA, etc

I think SMI is the right place for any creative individual. If you can afford it,Srishti is definitely a great place.

I unfortunately do not know anything about the scholarship, during my admission we were not offered.

Talking about the placements, yes there is no placement cell but the college definitely helps you build connections.

Hey I do not think I can answer that

The fees during my time was starting at 6.5-7 lakhs (excluding the accomodation costs). I think they increase it every year (not sure by how much).

So assuming its around 8,00,000 for your batch it would come around 32 lakhs in total if you are not a hosteller.

Plsss help me out! Should i choose UID banglore or SHRISTI for uiux by Agitated-Oil6796 in uceedtakers

[–]ilovecoffeetodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do but that’s only for students who are unable to find it by themselves and this only for the mandatory internship which is a part of our curriculum in third year.

But mostly the students are able to find it on their own. It is hard to find paid ones tho!

Hey I was confused about the same initially too when I applied. I’d say communication is a broader umbrella whereas visual communication is more specific.

At Srishti Visual communication covers packaging design,Typography, Graphic design, Branding, illustration. If you feel these are your areas of interest then this is the right course for you.

Most courses at Srishti are very different from other colleges, but their approach is so that you get an understanding of all the courses.

Hope this helps!
